This service evaluation details the process of introducing Single Session Therapy (SST) with families to a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in the United Kingdom. SST is a model of short-term psychotherapy intervention which can be applied to family contexts to provide timely mental health support. ⋯ More high-quality research is needed before judgments can be made around the cost-effectiveness or efficacy of SST over existing approaches in the United Kingdom. While implementing SST should not be used to justify reduction in existing interventions, it offers a positive additional service for young people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families.

Currently, the number of people with physical disability and impairment is increasing significantly in Ethiopia, especially in the northern part. In that regard, the Ethiopian government has been providing physical rehabilitation services to recover patients. However, due to the widespread problem of healthcare service and the increase in patients seeking physiotherapy service, the quality of the service might be compromised, and the evidence is limited. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the quality of physiotherapy services at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, northwest Ethiopia. ⋯ The overall quality of physiotherapy service was deemed intermediate and needs further improvement. The required resources, such as clinical assessment tools, therapeutic exercise equipment, electrotherapy modalities and infrastructure, were not adequate. Educational level and occupation were significantly associated with patient centeredness.

Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) II instrument have been widely used by scholars around the world to assess the methodological quality of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). We sought to identify items or domains that are commonly scored low in the assessment, and to systematically review the issues that emerged when evaluators used the AGREE II tool for guideline quality assessment. ⋯ AGREE II tools have facilitated the development of methodological quality for CPGs. Although the quality of CPGs has improved over time, some general low-quality problems still exist, and solving these problems will be an effective way for developers to upgrade the quality of guidelines. In addition, addressing critical issues in the evaluation of guidelines to present high-quality study reports would be another way to guide guideline development.

Increasing complexity in healthcare systems necessitates effective handover. While a universal structure is often recommended, many frameworks do not include the patient. A systematic review was completed examining outcomes following handover that included patients or carers using a realist-orientated paradigm. ⋯ Patient-centred handover was associated with self-reported benefits for patients and providers but potential advantages over conventional handover could be undermined by barriers such as time, implementation challenges and a perceived increase in staff workload.
