Positive Preemptive Analgesia Effectiveness of Pregabalin Combined with Celecoxib in Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective Controlled Randomized Study.
The purpose of the present study (a randomized clinical trial) was to evaluate the preemptive analgesic effects of pregabalin combined with celecoxib in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ The preemptive analgesia regimen of pregabalin combined with celecoxib had positive effects on improving acute pain and reducing the cumulative dose of opioids after TKA. Can Ultrasound-Guided Continuous Paravertebral Block Reduce the Incidence of Chronic Postsurgical Pain in Patients with Thoracoscopic Lung Cancer Surgery? A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery is accompanied by severe pain. Both continuous paravertebral block (CPVB) and continuous wound infiltration (CWI) are widely used for perioperative analgesia in thoracoscopic surgery. However, the effects of these different methods on chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) are still unknown. Patients and Methods. This prospective randomized controlled trial assessed the eligibility of 113 patients. Ninety-seven patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a CPVB group and a CWI group, and 80 patients were analyzed in the final study. The primary outcome measures were the incidence and intensity of chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) at 3, 6, and 9 months after surgery. The secondary outcome measures were the numerical rating scale (NRS) score of rest and activity at 12, 18, and 24 hours and on the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th days postoperatively; the Barthel Activities of Daily Living (ADL) score of activity levels on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th days postoperatively; and the long-term quality of the life score at 3, 6, and 9 months postoperatively. ⋯ Continuous ultrasound-guided paravertebral block reduced the intensity of acute pain within 7 days postoperatively and reduced the incidence of chronic pain at 3, 6, and 9 months after surgery, but there was no significant advantage in long-term quality of life. Ultrasound-Guided Rhomboid Block versus Paravertebral Block in Postoperative Analgesia for Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.
The anesthetic efficacy of the ultrasound-guided rhomboid intercostal block (RIB) in alleviating postoperative pain has been well concerned. This study aims to compare the effectiveness between ultrasound-guided RIB and paravertebral block (PVB) in alleviating acute pain following video-assisted thoracic surgery. ⋯ Both PVB and RIB can provide adequate analgesia and accelerate the recovery of patients. Compared with PVB, RIB has a better analgesic effect, especially to avoid paravertebral pain caused by block, and the operation of RIB is more straightforward and the safety is higher.

The Efficacy of Manual Therapy and Pressure Biofeedback-Guided Deep Cervical Flexor Muscle Strength Training on Pain and Functional Limitations in Individuals with Cervicogenic Headaches: A Randomized Comparative Study.
This study aimed to compare the efficacy of manual therapy and pressure biofeedback-guided DCFM strength training on pain intensity and functional limitations in individuals with CGH. Trial Design. A double-blinded, two-arm parallel group randomized comparative design. ⋯ Compared with manual therapy, pressure biofeedback-guided DCFM strength training showed a greater reduction in pain intensity (assessed using the VAS) at weeks two and three. However, both treatments were equally effective in lowering headache-related functional limitations in patients with CGH. Analgesic Efficacy of Ketoprofen Transdermal Patch versus Ibuprofen Oral Tablet on Postendodontic Pain in Patients with Irreversible Pulpitis: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
In this randomized clinical trial, 64 patients who had mandibular first and second molars with irreversible pulpitis were randomly divided into two groups (n = 32) by stratified permuted block randomization. The experimental group used 60 mg KTP every 6 hours, and the control group received 400 mg ibuprofen tablets every 6 hours for 1 day. The severity of pain experienced by patients was quantified before and at 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, and 48 hours after endodontic treatment, using the numerical rating scale (NRS). Data were analyzed by using the t-test, Mann-Whitney test, and generalized estimating equation (GEE) (alpha = 0.05). ⋯ Both KTP and ibuprofen effectively decreased postendodontic pain. Considering the comparable pattern of pain reduction, KTP can be used as an alternative to ibuprofen tablets for effective pain control after endodontic treatment of mandibular first and second molars with irreversible pulpitis.
