To compare ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) with iron sucrose (IS) for the effective and timely treatment of preoperative iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in women with menorrhagia. ⋯ Ferric carboxymaltose is as effective as IS in correcting preoperative IDA among patients with menorrhagia. The added benefits of FCM over IS included significant rapid correction of IDA, replenishment of iron stores and reduced hospital visits.

Multicenter StudySeatbelt use and seat preference among pregnant women in Sapporo, Japan, in 2013.
This study was performed to determine the rate of pregnant occupants in motor vehicle accidents (MVA) and the frequency of seatbelt use in pregnancy in Japan. ⋯ The careful attitude of pregnant women toward driving safety may be associated with reduced risk of MVA in pregnancy. There is a need for an intensified campaign to promote seatbelt use among pregnant women.

Multicenter StudyClinical characteristics of amniotic fluid embolism: an experience of 29 years.
The aim of this study was to elucidate the clinical characteristics and risk factors for amniotic fluid embolism (AFE). ⋯ AFE patients were classified into two types based on presenting signs and symptoms. Knowledge of the various initial symptoms of AFE enables a correct diagnosis.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyReduction of tobacco smoke exposure for pregnant passive smokers using feedback of urinary cotinine test results.
Our objective was to evaluate the level of pregnant women's exposure to tobacco smoke by urinary cotinine testing at prenatal examinations, and to examine the effects of disclosing the results of urinary cotinine tests to pregnant women and their families on their smoking activities. ⋯ The feedback of the urinary cotinine test results at prenatal examinations decreased the level of exposure of pregnant passive smokers and non-smokers to tobacco smoke.

Multicenter StudyEffect of mode of delivery on postpartum depression in Iranian women.
The aim of this study was to determine the relation between mode of delivery (cesarean section [CS] or unassisted vaginal delivery) and postpartum depression (PPD). ⋯ There was no relation between delivery mode and PPD at 2 and 4 months after delivery; however, the VD group showed greater decrease in EPDS score from 2 to 4 months after delivery.
