Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Music Listening During Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure on Pain and Anxiety: A Randomized Trial.
The aim of the study was to compare pain, anxiety, and satisfaction between women, who listened to music, and those who did not during loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP). ⋯ The effects of music listening on reducing pain and anxiety during LEEP could not be demonstrated in this study.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe impact of gentle language on pain perception during colposcopy: a randomized controlled trial.
To determine whether language and word choice can reduce patients' perception of pain experienced during colposcopy with biopsies. ⋯ Although gentle language has been shown to effectively reduce pain associated with other procedures, it did not reduce the pain associated with colposcopy and biopsies in this study.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized trial of buffered versus nonbuffered lidocaine with epinephrine for cervical loop excision.
Our study evaluated whether buffering reduces pain from lidocaine injection for loop electrosurgical excisional procedures (LEEPs) of the cervix when compared to unbuffered lidocaine. ⋯ Pain scores with subepithelial lidocaine plus epinephrine for LEEP are low and are not significantly reduced by buffering the anesthetic.

Randomized Controlled TrialVestibulodynia: synergy between palmitoylethanolamide + transpolydatin and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
The study aimed to assess the effect of palmitoylethanolamide + transpolydatin combination in patients with vestibulodynia undergoing transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy and to confirm the effectiveness of TENS also in a domiciliary protocol. The study is based on the premise that palmitoylethanolamide + transpolydatin combination may contribute to a down-regulation of mast cell hyperactivity, which is believed to be responsible for the proliferation and sprouting of vestibular pain fibers and the associated hyperalgesia and allodynia. ⋯ This study confirms that TENS is of significant benefit in the management of vestibulodynia, also in a home environment. PEA + transpolydatin can be a value-added treatment adjunct when the onset of vestibulodynia is more recent or when the disease relapses.

Randomized Controlled TrialMusic or guided imagery for women undergoing colposcopy: a randomized controlled study of effects on anxiety, perceived pain, and patient satisfaction.
It was hypothesized that music or guided imagery versus usual care would result in less anxiety and perceived pain for colposcopy patients. ⋯ Mind-body interventions had no statistically significant impact on reported anxiety, perceived pain, or satisfaction with care, even for those who anticipated the most pain or started with high anxiety.
