Deep sternal wound infections following open heart surgery in Iceland: a population-based study.
The aim of this nationwide case-control study was to study the epidemiology and identify risk factors of deep sternal wound infections (DSWI) in Iceland. ⋯ Incidence of DSWI in Iceland (2.5%) is comparable to other recently published studies, with similar risk factors and significantly reduced survival at one year following the infection.

Comparative StudyDifferent prognostic importance of elevated troponin I after percutaneous coronary intervention in acute coronary syndrome and stable angina pectoris.
To investigate the prognostic importance of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) elevation after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in different clinical settings. ⋯ cTnI elevation after PCI predicts adverse outcome after one year in patients with ACS, but not in patients with SAP.
