Cardiac effects of CPAP treatment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and atrial fibrillation.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been recognized as an independent risk factor for the development and progression of atrial fibrillation (AF). We aimed to investigate the changes in heart rate and atrial and ventricular ectopy after continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment in patients with OSA and AF. ⋯ There is a significant decrease in atrial and ventricular ectopy count/24 h in patients with AF and OSA at 3 and 6 months of CPAP treatment compared to baseline.

Observational StudyThe relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and recurrence of atrial fibrillation after pulmonary vein isolation using a contact force-sensing catheter.
Our aim was to elucidate the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after repeated pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). ⋯ The rate of AF recurrence might not be greater in patients with untreated OSA than in those without OSA and those with treated OSA after repeated PVI, using a contact force-sensing catheter, for patients with paroxysmal or short-term persistent AF.
