Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy and safety of tamsulosin versus its combination with mirabegron in the management of lower urinary tract non-neurogenic overactive bladder symptoms (OABS) due to Benign Prostatic Enlargement (BPE)-An open label randomised controlled clinical study.
The efficacy and safety of βeta-3 agonists (Mirabegron 50 mg) have been sparingly assessed in the published English literature. We aim to do an efficacy-safety analysis of Mirabegron-Tamsulosin combination therapy vs tamsulosin-placebo monotherapy in a select subset of medication virgin Benign Prostatic Enlargement (BPE) patients with coexisting predominant non-neurogenic overactive bladder symptoms (OABS). ⋯ Mirabegron can be significantly efficacious and safe in ameliorating non-neurogenic OABS induced by BPE vs placebo by initiating combination therapy from the start as opposed to the usual 'add on therapy' protocol. This combination appeared to be superior in terms of overall safety, minimal side effects, better compliance and tolerability vs Tamsulosin monotherapy in select BPE patients with predominant non-neurogenic OABS.

Randomized Controlled TrialComprison of formula-based PICC catheterization versus common method for the treatment of newborns.
Whether PICC in newborns can improve its success rate and reduce the complications by using the formula method to calculate the depth of catheterisation. ⋯ The formula method in neonatal PICC catheter had great outcomes in terms of improving the success rate of one-time puncture and prolonging the indwelling time of catheter.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Melatonin Supplementation on Serum Oxidative Stress Markers and Disease Activity in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial.
Considering pathological significance of oxidative stress in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), current research aimed to evaluate the effects of melatonin supplementation on oxidative stress markers and disease activity in SLE. ⋯ This study demonstrated affirmative effects of melatonin in decreasing oxidative stress in SLE patients without any effect on disease activity. Further investigations are required to affirm these primitive findings and to achieve concise conclusions. What's known Free radical damage and oxidative stress has a remarkable function in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis. Products derived from oxidative modification cascades are found in biological fluids and their redundancy has a correlation with disease activity and organ damage in SLE. Dietary supplements, which decrease oxidative stress, would be useful in managing SLE. Melatonin is a potent antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory characteristics. Limited in vitro and animal studies are available indicating desirable effects of melatonin in preventing from SLE organ damage, thereby opening a new area of investigation that can contribute to using melatonin as a therapy or co-therapy for SLE. What's new Melatonin supplementation caused significant reduction in serum MDA compared with baseline and placebo group. Serum TAC level did not change significantly in the melatonin group compared with baseline and placebo group. Furthermore, melatonin supplementation did not cause significant change in disease activity compared to baseline and placebo group.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficiency Of Intracavitary Levobupivacaine Infusion For Pain Management During Cystoscopic Procedures: A Randomized Study.
This study evaluated the effect of intracavitary levobupivacaine infusion diluted with locally applied isotonic solution for pain control in cystoscopy. ⋯ Thus, levobupivacaine is a more effective drug than lidocaine alone to control pain during cystoscopy. The use of levobupivacaine is recommended to prevent possible complications of general anaesthesia by eliminating the need for the aforementioned as well as its cost-saving advantage.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia on postoperative cognitive function and sleep quality in elderly patients.
This study aimed to observe the effect of propofol-based total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) on postoperative cognitive function and sleep quality in elderly patients. ⋯ Propofol-based TIVA has little effect on the cognitive function and sleep quality of elderly patients after surgery, and it is worthy of clinical application.
