Randomized Controlled TrialA Randomized-Controlled, Prospective Study on the Effect of Dorsal Penile Nerve Block after TURP on Catheter-Related Bladder Discomfort and Pain.
In the present study, the impact of penile nerve block (PNB) on postoperative pain and Catheter-Related Bladder Discomfort (CRBD) in the transurethral resection of prostate(TURP) patients were evaluated. ⋯ Penile nerve block is an effective method for the decrease pain and CRBD after urological surgery. It will also reduce the need for analgesics, and provide painless patients in the postoperative period.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of Oxygen application with nCPAP for the prevention of desaturation during EBUS-TBNA.
EBUS-TBNA is a frequently used diagnostic method for mediastinal/hilar lymphadenopathies and masses. This procedure is performed with intravenous sedation (IVS). During IVS, patients often develop hypoxemia and nasal oxygen delivery is insufficient in some patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oxygen application with nCPAP on hypoxemia during EBUS-TBNA. ⋯ Oxygen application by nCPAP during EBUS-TBNA under IVS, significantly reduces desaturation time. Oxygen delivery with nCPAP seems to be a better choice especially for the patients with high Mallampati index.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effects of Flaxseed Supplementation on Gene Expression and Inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis Patients: an open-labeled randomized controlled trial.
Inflammatory bowel disease, a chronic inflammatory disorder of the intestinal mucosa, is a clinical presentation of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (UC). This study investigated the effect of grounded flaxseed (GF) and flaxseed oil (FO) on clinical biomarkers, quality of life and diseases activity in patients with UC. This research was conducted among 90 patients with UC for 12 weeks using an open-labelled randomised controlled trial design. ⋯ In conclusion, grounded flaxseed and FO attenuated systemic inflammation and improved disease severity in UC patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialShort-term Effectiveness of A Theory-based Intervention to Promote Diabetes Management Behaviours Among Adults with Type 2 Diabetes in Iran: A Randomized Control trial.
Diet and physical activity are recommended for diabetes management. Evidence suggests theory-based interventions are more efficacious than non-theory approaches. This study aimed to test the short-term effectiveness of an integrated theoretical model-based intervention to encourage compliance for low-fat food consumption, carbohydrate counting and physical activity in adults with type 2 diabetes. ⋯ This intervention showed promising short-term effects for carbohydrate counting but did not show improvements for low-fat diet nor physical activity. Given the improvement in psychological measures and self-reported behaviour for carbohydrate counting, coupled with the findings for TG, future research is needed to demonstrate longer-term improvements.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effects of Elaeagnus angustifolia L. On Lipid and Glycemic Profiles and Cardiovascular Function in Menopausal Women: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study.
The reduced production of ovarian hormones is considered to be the cause of an increase in the incidence of heart disease in women after menopause. Phytoestrogens are found in various herbal sources and are considered as an alternative to hormone therapy because of structural similarity with oestrogen. Elaeagnus angustifolia L., known as Senjed in Persian, is used in Iranian traditional medicine with various medicinal properties, contains valuable compounds, including two types of phytoestrogens. The aim of the present study was to investigate the efficacy of E. angustifolia fruit on the cardiovascular function, lipid and glycaemic profiles in postmenopausal women. ⋯ E. angustifolia was somewhat effective in improving cardiovascular function and lipid profile, as well as the overall health of postmenopausal women. However, the use of isomalt and corn starch in menopausal women needs further investigation.
