Laparoscopic versus open colectomy for locally advanced T4 colonic cancer: meta-analysis of clinical and oncological outcomes.
The aim of this study was to review the early postoperative and oncological outcomes after laparoscopic colectomy for T4 cancer compared with open surgery. ⋯ Laparoscopic colectomy for T4 colonic cancer is safe, and is associated with better clinical outcomes than open surgery and similar oncological outcomes.

This individual-patient data meta-analysis investigated the effects of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols compared with conventional care on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy. ⋯ ERAS improved postoperative outcome after pancreatoduodenectomy. Implementation should be encouraged.

Patients with small intestinal neuroendocrine tumours (siNETs) usually present with advanced disease. Primary tumour resection without curative intent is controversial in patients with metastatic siNETs. The aim of this meta-analysis was to investigate survival after primary tumour resection without curative intent compared with no resection in patients with metastatic siNETs. ⋯ Primary tumour resection is associated with increased survival in patients with advanced, metastatic siNETs, even after adjusting for important confounders.

Faecal immunochemical test to triage patients with possible colorectal cancer symptoms: meta-analysis.
This review evaluated the utility of single quantitative faecal immunochemical test (FIT) as a triaging tool for patients with symptoms of possible colorectal cancer, the effect of symptoms on FIT accuracy, and the impact of triaging incorporating FIT on service provision. ⋯ Single quantitative FIT at lower f-Hb positivity thresholds can adequately exclude colorectal cancer in symptomatic patients and provides a data-based approach to prioritization of colonoscopy resources.

Laparoscopic versus open resection of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with cirrhosis: a meta-analysis.
The exact role of laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and underlying liver cirrhosis (LC) is not well defined. In this meta-analysis, both long- and short-term outcomes following LLR versus open liver resection (OLR) were analysed. ⋯ Laparoscopic resection of HCC in patients with cirrhosis is associated with improved survival and perioperative outcomes.
