Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA Randomized Comparison Between Interscalene and Small-Volume Supraclavicular Blocks for Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery.
This randomized trial compared ultrasound (US)-guided interscalene block (ISB) and small-volume supraclavicular block (SCB) for arthroscopic shoulder surgery. We hypothesized that SCB would provide equivalent analgesia to ISB 30 minutes after surgery without the risk of hemidiaphragmatic paralysis (HDP). ⋯ This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT03224884.

Randomized Controlled TrialLocal Anesthetic Injection Speed and Common Peroneal Nerve Block Duration: A Randomized Controlled Trial in Healthy Volunteers.
The speed of local anesthetic (LA) injections in peripheral regional anesthesia ranges from slow continuous infusions (3-12 mL/h) to rapid manual injections (>7500 mL/h). Optimizing injection speed could augment the spread of LA toward the targeted nerves and influence nerve block characteristics. The objective of this study was to investigate whether injection speed of a single dose of LA affects peripheral nerve block duration. ⋯ This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT02801799.

Intravenous (IV) dexmedetomidine (DEX) is reported to prolong the analgesic duration after single-shot interscalene brachial plexus block (ISBPB). However, the effective analgesic dose of IV DEX remains undetermined. Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy and Safety of Lidocaine Infusion Treatment for Neuropathic Pain: A Randomized, Double-Blind, and Placebo-Controlled Study.
Lidocaine infusion therapy (LIT) is an effective treatment for relieving neuropathic pain (NeP). However, it remains unclear whether pain relief can be sustained through repeated lidocaine infusions. Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of Paravertebral Block by Anatomic Landmark Technique to Ultrasound-Guided Paravertebral Block for Breast Surgery Anesthesia: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Paravertebral block (PVB) is an established technique for providing anesthesia for breast surgery. The primary objective was to compare anatomical landmark technique (ALT) to the ultrasound-guided (USG) PVB block for providing surgical anesthesia. Secondary objectives included comparison of perioperative analgesia and complications. ⋯ The trial was registered retrospectively at the Clinical Trial Registry of India, CTRI/2015/05/005774.
