[Prehospital stabilization of a critically ill patient with telemetric medical guidance].
We report about the prehospital treatment of an 82-year-old man with septic shock as a complication of acute pancreatitis. Initially only an advanced life support ambulance was on scene. After the primary assessment, the team decided to call for an emergency-physician-staffed helicopter. ⋯ Therefore, they requested telemetric support. Despite massive centralization and difficult circumstances, the team succeeded to stabilize the patient in ongoing consultation of the tele-emergency physician. This cooperation made immediate und uneventful transportation after arrival of the helicopter possible.

Review["B problems" in non-traumatic resuscitation room management].
In the primary survey of resuscitation room management in critically ill nontrauma patients, the ABCDE (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, exposure) approach is used for immediate recognition and treatment of life-threatening conditions. "B problems" are associated with respiratory failure and require immediate treatment. The pathogenesis is diverse, especially in the nontrauma resuscitation room. Clinical examination, emergency sonography and knowledge of oxygenation techniques and ventilation are important components of diagnosis and therapy. Standardized procedures and regular training in the emergency room are of fundamental importance.

Review[Pandemic relief volunteers-increasing resilience for disasters].
The corona pandemic demands new solutions from our health care system in order to expand treatment capacities in a resilient manner within a short period of time. The last stage of expansion is disaster protection, the resilience of which can also be improved by volunteers. However, these spontaneous volunteers require training in order to be integrated into the disaster relief structures. ⋯ The concept of the PRV is the first structured training and integration of spontaneous responders in German civil protection. It is not a substitute for fully trained full-time and voluntary staff, but can provide useful support.

Review[Drinking behavior at the beginning and during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic: results of a literature review].
It is well known that alcohol consumption and abuse, as well as alcohol-induced problems, increase during difficult economic times. Previous studies showed increased alcohol consumption in the 2003 SARS outbreak in China. The review examines global changes in alcohol consumption under current SARS-CoV‑2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) pandemic. ⋯ Further study follow-ups under the continuing pandemic are relevant. Since the populations studied were predominantly of working age, occupational prevention measures of elevated stress levels for some of the respondents with increased alcohol consumption seem reasonable.

The number of short- and long-distance running events in Germany is increasing. Running as a popular sport is practiced by a large number of people of different ages, risk groups, and degrees of professionalism, which results in a wide range of medical emergencies. ⋯ General symptoms including vomiting, fever, collapse, muscle-pain, nausea and weakness are the leading symptoms during running events. A careful anamnesis is important for targeted clinical therapy. Symptom control is the main task. Fluid management the most challenging task for healthcare providers in the prehospital setting.
