The objective of this study was to investigate real-world EGFR mutation testing in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) upon progression on first-/second-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI), and subsequent treatments received. ⋯ A third of patients received subsequent therapies on disease progression; only 30% of these were tested for EGFR-TKI resistance mutation, prior to receiving subsequent therapies. These results highlight the importance of choosing treatments in the 1 L setting that optimize benefits for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC.

Meta Analysis
Clinicopathological and prognostic value of SNHG6 in cancers: a systematic review and a meta-analysis.
Dysregulation of the long non-coding RNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 16 (lncRNA SNHG6) has been found in multiple cancers. However, a definite conclusion on the clinical value of lncRNA SNHG6 expression in human cancers has not been determined. The purpose of the present meta-analysis was to comprehensively elucidate the association between SNHG6 expression and clinical outcomes in cancers. ⋯ High lncRNA SNHG6 expression was correlated with tumor invasion depth, LNM, DM, and advanced TNM stage, suggesting that SNHG6 may serve as a promising prognostic biomarker of human cancers.

Concern for cardiovascular disease (particularly atrial fibrillation-AF) among women with breast cancer is becoming a major issue. We aimed at determining the incidence of cardiovascular disease events (AF, arterial and cardiac events, venous-thromboembolism-VTE) in patients diagnosed with breast cancer, and assessing potential risk factors. ⋯ The incidence of cardiovascular disease events was 5.8% ([3.8-7.7] CI 95%), with HER-2 over-expression, UICC-stage III tumors or more and pre-existing cardiovascular diseases being associated with them. These findings call for the development of preventive strategies in patients diagnosed with breast cancer.

Sodium channels located in the dorsal root ganglion, particularly Nav1.7 and Nav1.8, encoded by SCN9A and SCN10A, respectively, act as molecular gatekeepers for pain detection. Our aim was to determine the association between TIPN and SCN9A and SCN10A polymorphisms. ⋯ SCN9A rs13017637 was associated with the severity and duration of TIPN. These findings are highly exploratory and require replication and validation prior to any consideration of clinical use.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) frequently overexpress somatostatin receptors (SSTRs), which is the molecular basis for 68Ga-DOTATOC positron-emission tomography (PET) and radiopeptide therapy (PRRT). However, SSTR expression fluctuates and can be subject to treatment-related changes. The aim of this retrospective study was to assess, which changes in PET and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) occur for different treatments and if pre-therapeutic 68Ga-DOTATOC-PET/MRI was able to predict treatment response to PRRT. ⋯ Patients responding to current treatment showed a statistically significant decrease in lesion volume on ADC maps and a borderline significant decrease in entropy. No statistically significant changes in PET parameters were observed. No PET or ADC maps parameters predicted treatment response to PRRT. However, the sample size of this preliminary study is small and further research needed.
