Multicenter Study Comparative StudyKyphoplasty versus vertebroplasty in osteoporotic thoracolumbar spine fractures. Short-term retrospective review of a multicentre cohort of 127 consecutive patients.
Osteoporotic spine fractures induce a heavy burden in terms of both general health and healthcare costs. The objective of this multicentre study by the French Society for Spine Surgery (SFCR) was to compare outcomes after vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty in the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures. ⋯ Despite the heterogeneity of our study, our data confirm the effectiveness of kyphoplasty in alleviating pain and decreasing deformities due to osteoporotic vertebral fractures. Vertebroplasty is a faster and less costly procedure that remains useful; no detectable clinical complications occur with vertebroplasty, which ensures better anchoring of the cement in the cancellous bone.

Minimally invasive management of thoraco-lumbar fractures: combined percutaneous fixation and balloon kyphoplasty.
Retrospective review of prospectively collected data. ⋯ Percutaneous stabilization plus balloon kyphoplasty seems to be a safe and effective technique to manage thoraco-lumbar fractures without neurological impairment.

Comparative StudySurgical treatment of hindfoot inflammatory diseases: 107 arthrodesis.
In rheumatoid diseases, hindfoot arthrodesis abolishes pain and corrects deformity. The choice between selective and double arthrodesis depends on whether the hindfoot malalignment is fixed or not. Indications for surgery are well codified. The various types of arthrodesis have never been assessed together on a large series. We here report a series that is substantial in numbers and in follow-up. ⋯ Double arthrodesis showed the greatest benefit in terms of restoring foot architecture, but was associated with a higher rate of deterioration in ankle status. Preventive double arthrodesis is not recommended in case of isolated arthritis with reducible hindfoot malalignment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyOperative treatment of clavicle midshaft fractures using a locking compression plate: comparison between mini-invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) technique and conventional open reduction.
The goal of the present study was to compare minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) technique and conventional open reduction with LCP for the treatment of clavicle midshaft fractures in adults in a randomized, controlled, clinical trial with a minimum of 1-year follow-up. ⋯ Level IV. Retrospective study.

Comparative StudyCompared outcomes after percutaneous pinning versus open reduction in paediatric supracondylar elbow fractures.
Supracondylar fractures of the elbow are common in children. Their treatment is controversial when displacement has occurred, although percutaneous pinning is usually advocated. ⋯ Level IV, retrospective study.
