Functional outcomes and return to sports after surgical treatment of insertional Achilles tendinopathy: Surgical approach tailored to the degree of tendon involvement.
Insertional Achilles tendinopathy is a generic term that encompasses several types of ailments. While conservative treatment is less effective than for conditions isolated to the tendon body, there is no consensus as to the best type of surgical care. ⋯ IV.

Influence of posture on relationships between pelvic parameters and lumbar lordosis: Comparison of the standing, seated, and supine positions. A preliminary study.
Pelvic incidence (PI) is an anatomical parameter that is considered invariable in a given individual. Although changes in posture influence the mobile lumbar spine, lumbar lordosis (LL) and the pelvis are typically evaluated only in the standing position. Thus, whether other positions commonly used during daily activities influence the relationship between LL and PI is unknown. The objective of this study was to determine whether LL and sacral slope (SS) correlated with PI, using two standardised positions, seated and supine, different from the standing position that is generally used. ⋯ IV.

Total hip arthroplasty after failed fixation of a proximal femur fracture: Analysis of 59 cases of intra- and extra-capsular fractures.
The indications for total hip arthroplasty (THA) after failed internal fixation of a proximal femur fracture vary. Published studies on this topic are broad-ranging and do not distinguish between intracapsular and extracapsular fractures. This led us to conduct a retrospective analysis comparing the clinical outcomes, radiological outcomes, technical problems and complications between these two types of fractures. ⋯ IV - Retrospective study.

The effect of upper instrumented vertebra level on cervical sagittal alignment in Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between upper instrumented vertebra (UIV) level and cervical sagittal alignment (CSA) in Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients, treated with posterior instrumentation. The hypothesis was that higher level of UIV would cause decreased cervical lordosis. ⋯ IV.

Multicenter StudyThe influence of bone cement and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class on cardiovascular status during bipolar hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral-neck fracture: A multicenter, prospective, case-control study.
Little is known about how bone cement and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification influence the cardiovascular system in elderly patients with femoral-neck fractures treated with cemented hemiarthroplasty. Therefore, we performed a case-control study to investigate these questions and compared the following:≥ASA III with≤ASA II patients who underwent cemented hemiarthroplasty; and cemented with cementless hemiarthroplasty in≥ASA III patients. ⋯ III, multicenter case-control cohort study.
