Penile and scrotal lymphedema associated with hidradenitis suppurativa: Case report and review of surgical options.
Lymphedema is the result of an alteration of the lymphatic drainage, and its most common worldwide cause is filariasis. In our practice usually is associated to neoplasic, inflammatory and granulomatous processes, radiotherapy, hydroelectrolytic disbalances, and idiopathic. It can affect any part of the body, including the penis and scrotum. ⋯ Surgical treatment consisted of total excision of the skin and subcutaneous tissue to Buck's fascia. Split thickness skin grafts were used to cover the defect. The result was satisfactory both functionally and aesthetically.

Ulcerative colitis: epidemiology, clinical features and associated factors with surgical treatment in a tertiary hospital in Mexico.
An increase incidence of ulcerative colitis (UC) has been reported in Mexico. It is important to know the clinical features of patients with UC, their clinical course, need for surgical treatment and outcomes. ⋯ The clinical features of UC are useful to identify patients who may present a torpid evolution of the disease and who may require surgical treatment.

Patients with bulky metastases of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck represent a challenge for the therapeutic decision; balance between oncological control and complications should be achieved. The therapeutic sequence has no impact on survival but sequelae. ⋯ The treatment of cervical metastasis depends on the possibility of resection. We should favor the initial surgery. The HPV is a factor of good prognosis.

Un alto porcentaje de pacientes que reciben una hepatectomía por metástasis de cáncer colorrectal presentarán recidiva hepática, y en algunas será posible una nueva resección. La utilidad de las hepatectomías repetidas continúa siendo discutida. ⋯ The short-term results of repeated hepatectomy are similar to those resected once. Long term result are inferior to other published series.

[Tratamiento nutricional hiperproteico precirugía bariátrica en obesidad mórbida].
Comparar la efectividad de un plan de alimentación hipocalórico hiperproteico con otro normoproteico sobre la composición corporal, los parámetros bioquímicos y las citocinas inflamatorias en pacientes obesos precirugía bariátrica sometidos a un tratamiento integral. ⋯ Hyperproteic hypocaloric diet does not show advantages in weight reduction and body fat or in muscle mass gain compared to the normoproteic hypocaloric diet in patients with morbid obesity bariatric pre-surgery in the integral treatment.
