Process Evaluation of a Combined Lifestyle Intervention for Community-Dwelling Older Adults: ProMuscle in Practice.
The ProMuscle in Practice intervention combines resistance exercise training and dietary protein intake for community-dwelling older adults, implemented by health care professionals (HCPs). This study aimed to evaluate implementation and context of this intervention in Dutch health care practice. ⋯ A combined resistance exercise training and dietary protein intervention for community-dwelling older adults can be successfully implemented in practice. Well-tailored interventions, intensive supervision by skilled HCPs, social aspects, fidelity, and fit within real-world settings appeared essential for successful implementation. These elements are important for continuous intervention optimization to accomplish broader and successful implementation.

Predicting Functional Decline and Recovery for Residents in Veterans Affairs Nursing Homes.
This article describes methods and accuracy of predicting change in activities of daily living (ADLs) for nursing home patients following hospitalization. ⋯ Predictive modeling may allow development of more personalized predictions of functional loss and recovery after hospitalization among nursing home patients.

The article aims to examine the extent to which ageism is connected with the social integration of older adults in their neighborhoods and to identify factors that explain social integration. ⋯ To enable better social integration, intergeneration programs should be developed to decrease ageism, and in order to make communities more age-friendly, there is need to facilitate accessibility to services and public spaces.

Reliability and validity testing of the physical resilience measure.
The purpose of this study was to test reliability and validity of the Physical Resilience Scale. ⋯ Future use of the Physical Resilience Scale should consider adding more challenging items to better differentiate those particularly high in physical resilience.

Concordance of family and staff member reports about end of life in assisted living and nursing homes.
To identify differences in perspectives that may complicate the process of joint decision making at the end of life, this study determined the agreement of family and staff perspectives about end-of-life experiences in nursing homes and residential care/assisted living communities and whether family and staff roles, involvement in care, and interaction are associated with such agreement. ⋯ Family and staff perspectives about end-of-life experiences may differ substantially; efforts can be made to improve family-staff communication and interaction for joint decision making.
