Diagnosing idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) still remains a clinical challenge. The callosal angle (CA) is a widely used neuroradiologic marker for iNPH. However, the relationship of the CA to clinical features has not been well investigated. We hypothesize that iNPH symptoms might better correlate with a variant of the CA (anterior callosal angle [ACA]). We aim to establish the validity of the ACA measurement for the diagnosis of iNPH and compare it with current radiologic parameters. ⋯ The ACA could be a valid radiologic parameter in the diagnostic armamentarium for iNPH.

Sexual Dysfunction Secondary to Lumbar Stiffness in Adult Spinal Deformity Patients before and after Long-Segment Spinal Fusion.
Sexual function is an important factor contributing to quality of life. Adult spinal deformity (ASD) patients may have sexual limitations due to lumbar spinal stiffness that may be affected by long-segment fusion. ⋯ This study found that sexual dysfunction scores due to lumbar stiffness significantly improved after surgery for ASD. Additionally, lumbar stiffness-related sexual dysfunction is strongly related to overall outcome measured by Oswestry Disability Index and Scoliosis Research Society-22r total score, highlighting the importance of sexual health on overall outcome in ASD patients.

We report a rare case of Hangman's fracture in a male child with osteopetrosis. ⋯ Osteopetrosis can be a rare cause of Hangman's fracture.

To identify rates, risks, and complications of red blood cell (RBC) transfusion in metastatic spinal tumor surgery. ⋯ RBC transfusion after metastatic spinal tumor surgery may increase the risk of early postoperative complications. Future research into preoperative patient optimization and decreasing intraoperative blood loss is needed.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disruptive pandemic that has continued to test the limits of health care system capacities. It is important to highlight the specific challenges facing US neurosurgery during these difficult circumstances. In the present study, we have described our neurosurgery department's unique experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ By detailing our experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope to have provided a detailed picture of the challenges facing neurosurgery within an academic medical center.
