Moyamoya disease (MMD) often presents as ischemic stroke in pediatric patients and hemorrhage in adults. This situation raises questions as to whether the phenotype of moyamoya disease changes with age. ⋯ The EDAS procedure can effectively attenuate the dilation and ACVs of the anterior choroidal artery, which may reduce the incidence of further hemorrhage in adulthood.

Various devices exist for glioma image-guided surgery to improve tumor resection. These devices work as stand-alone units, making the flow of operative information complicated and disjointed. A novel networked operating room, the Smart Cyber Operating Theater (SCOT), has been developed, integrating stand-alone medical devices using the OPeLiNK communication interface. We report and evaluate the impact of SCOT for glioma surgery and our initial experiences. ⋯ The use of SCOT was shown to be safe and feasible in glioma surgery. This study suggests that SCOT may improve surgical outcomes and educational impact by sharing information in real time with the strategy desk.

Adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) can help achieve local control (LC) and reduce hormonal overexpression for pituitary adenomas (PAs). Prior reports involved Gamma Knife or older linear accelerator (LINAC) techniques. The aim of this study was to report long-term outcomes for modern LINAC RT. ⋯ Modern LINAC RT for patients with PAs was safe and effective for hormonal control and LC. No difference in LC was noted for functional versus nonfunctional tumors, possibly owing to higher total dose and daily image guidance.

Meniere disease (MD) is an idiopathic peripheral pathology involving the acoustic apparatus. One of the most critical challenges in managing MD is intractable vertigo. In this context, retrosigmoid vestibular neurectomy has been described as a safe and effective technique to manage this symptom when it is resistant to first- and second-line treatments. This article analyzed the alternative treatment options, specific surgical anatomy, and relevant details of vestibular neurectomies performed for intractable MD. ⋯ Vestibular neurectomy represents a safe and effective technique to manage MD that is resistant to medical treatment, allowing symptom control and hearing preservation. Nevertheless, detailed knowledge of surgical anatomy and possible pitfalls is of paramount importance to achieve a good outcome.

Exoscopic en bloc Carotid-Sparing Total Temporal Bone Resection: Feasibility Study and Operative Technique.
To delineate the steps of exoscopic en bloc carotid artery-sparing total temporal bone resection for malignancies involving the temporal bone in a cadaveric model. ⋯ Exoscope-assisted en bloc carotid artery-sparing total temporal bone resection is a feasible technique for management of malignancies with temporal bone invasion.
