To compare the surgical and radiographic outcomes of occipitocervical fusion (OCF) with those of atlantoaxial fusion (AAF) in patients with cervical myelopathy caused by retroodontoid pseudotumors (ROPs). ⋯ Although OCF and AAF were similarly effective for cervical myelopathy with ROP, AAF was less invasive, and spinal alignment was better maintained postoperatively in AAF than OCF.

With advances in endovascular therapy, the number of cerebral aneurysm clippings has been decreasing. However, some patients are indicated for clipping surgeries. In such circumstances, preoperative simulation is important for the safety and educational aspects of the operation. Herein, we introduce a simulation method using the preoperative rehearsal sketch and report its applicability. ⋯ Precise interpretations of preoperative images and considerations of three-dimensional images are imperative to perform safe and accurate surgeries using preoperative simulation. Although perforators are not always detected preoperatively, it is possible to presume in the surgical view using anatomic knowledge. Therefore, drawing the preoperative rehearsal sketch improves the safety of surgical procedure.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and dorsal root entry zone (DREZ) lesioning are important therapeutic options for intractable post-traumatic neuropathic pain (PNP). However, surgical choice is controversial due to the need to maximize pain relief and reduce complications. This study aims to retrospectively analyze the effect and complications of DREZ lesioning for patients with PNP who were unresponsive to SCS and provide a surgical reference. ⋯ DREZ lesioning is an effective alternative procedure to SCS for patients with PNP who have lost limb function. Particularly for those with BPI, DREZ lesioning has shown good efficacy and can be considered a preferred surgical option.

The classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors has changed greatly. The Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) and other institutions have analyzed the incidence rate and characteristics of primary CNS tumors. However, there are limited studies analyzing the incidence rate and characteristics of CNS tumors in China. To better understand CNS tumors in China, we summarized all primary CNS tumors diagnosed pathologically in a single center from 2003 to 2019. ⋯ Based on this data set, we analyzed various parameters of CNS tumors and found that grade 4 tumors of neuroepithelial tissue were more common in the temporal lobe, which were rarely reported in previous articles.
