We present the surgical approaches and short-term (2 years postoperative) results pertaining to circumferential minimally invasive spine surgery (CMIS) with lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) and percutaneous pedicle screw application for adult idiopathic scoliosis (AS). ⋯ The 2-year postoperative results of CMIS for AS were good, and spontaneous bone fusion was confirmed in the thoracic spine without bone grafting. In this procedure, sufficient intervertebral release with LLIF and a percutaneous pedicle screw device translation technique enabled adequate global alignment correction. Therefore, correcting the global imbalance of the coronal and sagittal planes is more crucial than correcting scoliosis.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) is an established and effective neurosurgical treatment for relieving motor symptoms in Parkinson disease. The localization of key brain structures is critical to the success of DBS surgery. However, in clinical practice, this process is heavily dependent on the radiologist's experience. ⋯ Our proposed method uses deep learning to achieve accurate segmentation of the key structures more quickly than and with comparable accuracy to human manual segmentation. Our method has the potential to improve the efficiency of surgical planning for STN-DBS.

To compare outcomes of proton radiation therapy (PRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and x-ray-based radiation with an SRS boost (XRT + SRS) for newly diagnosed clival chordoma. ⋯ Patients after subtotal resection or biopsy may benefit from the incorporation of SRS.

Cerebral arterial fenestrations are anatomic variants of undetermined significance where there is a division of a single vessel into at least 2 channels, each having endothelial and muscular layers, that coalesce to a single lumen in the distal course of the vessel. The basilar artery is the most common site, followed by the anterior communicating artery. ⋯ However, simultaneous existence of all 3 anomalies in a single individual has never been reported. Here we present a case of medial sphenoid wing meningioma with these incidental findings during workup and further delineation of anatomy following surgical resection of meningioma.

This study aimed to compare the postoperative alignment of static and expandable cages in lateral single-position (LSP) for indirect decompression in lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF). ⋯ In LSP-LLIF without facet joint resection or other posterior techniques, static and expandable cages showed comparable effectiveness in achieving increased DH, SL, FA, and indirect decompression.
