Posterior fossa decompression (PFD) surgery creates more space at the skull base, reduces the resistance to the cerebrospinal fluid motion, and alters craniocervical biomechanics. In this paper, we retrospectively examined the changes in neural tissue dimensions following PFD surgery on Chiari malformation type 1 adults. ⋯ The brainstem width and cervical cord volume showed a modest increase after PFD surgery, although standard deviations were large. A reduction in compression after PFD surgery may allow for an increase in neural tissue dimension. However, clinical relevance is unclear and should be assessed in future studies with high-resolution imaging.

Neuron-specific enolase (NSE), which is a highly specific marker for neurons, could be a predictor for prognosis in patients with symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) with acute ischemic stroke who are receiving endovascular treatment (EVT). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between NSE and sICH in patients with acute anterior circulation stroke undergoing EVT. ⋯ This study is the first to show that increased NSE level is an independent predictor of sICH in patients with acute anterior circulation stroke who are undergoing endovascular treatment.

Biportal endoscopy spine surgery is an endoscopic procedure that uses 2 portals, 1 for the endoscope and 1 for the instruments. It provides an excellent and very versatile field of view, with the advantage of another portal to approach the most common degenerative lumbar pathologies. ⋯ Biportal endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that is safe and effective, with a low rate of complications. It has a reproducible learning curve and provides very good outcomes regarding functionality and pain scores.

To identify the prognostic factors of surgical resection for meningioma and their relationship with patient outcomes. ⋯ Short duration of hospitalization and superficial location of the tumor are associated with optimal outcomes after surgical resection for patients with meningioma.

This retrospective study aimed at determining the dimension of the interthalamic adhesion (ITA) in patients with the idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) for assisting in preoperative radiologic diagnosis. ⋯ The height and width of ITA are approximately 50% smaller in IIH than controls; therefore alterations in the dimension of ITA may be a valuable radiologic sign for the diagnosis of IIH.
