New peripheral nerve blocks targeting the dorsal rami are possible for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing posterior cervical spine surgeries. A cervical cervicis plane (CCeP) block can be performed under ultrasound guidance. We provide a description of this nerve block and ultrasound imaging with relevant sonographic structures. ⋯ The CCeP block is an easy nerve block to perform under ultrasound guidance to block the dorsal rami of the cervical nerves. It can provide effective analgesic effects for patients undergoing upper and lower posterior cervical spine surgery without compromising neurophysiology monitoring.

Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies are routinely ordered for trigeminal neuralgia (TN), though with contested reliability in contemporary literature. A potential reason for this disagreement is inconsistency in MRI reading methodologies. Here, we compare the rate of reported neurovascular compression on preoperative MRI by radiologists employed in community or private practice settings and academic neuroradiologists. ⋯ The frequency of vascular compression reported by non-academic radiologists is much lower than what is reported by academic neuroradiologists reading the same MRI scans. These results highlight the effect of practice setting on the predictive power of neuroimaging. Future studies are indicated to further investigate these relationships, as well as to trial newer imaging modalities.

Trigeminal schwannoma is an uncommon tumor in pediatric patients. Several surgical approaches have been described in the literature. ⋯ The surgical approach varies based on the tumor conformation. However, a 2-stage pterional subtemporal and semisitting retrosigmoid approach is a safe, practical, and effective strategy for the removal of dumbbell-shaped trigeminal schwannoma in a pediatric patient.

The purpose of this study is to determine if increased postoperative prescription opioid dosing is an isolated predictor of chronic opioid use after anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion (ACDF). ⋯ High postoperative opioid dose independently predicted chronic opioid use after ACDF regardless of preoperative opioid tolerance.

Augmented reality (AR) technology has played an increasing role in cerebrovascular neurosurgery over the last 2 decades. Hence, we aim to evaluate the technical and educational value of head-mounted AR in cerebrovascular procedures. ⋯ Head-mounted AR can be used in cerebrovascular neurosurgery as an adjunctive tool that might influence surgical strategy, enable 3-dimensional understanding of complex anatomy, and provide great educational value in selected cases.
