To assess agreement between pedicle screw placement evaluated on postoperative computed tomography (CT) and on intraoperative cone-beam CT (CBCT) and compare procedure characteristics when using first-generation and second-generation robotic C-arm systems in the hybrid operating room. ⋯ Intraoperative CBCT provides accurate assessment of pedicle screw placement and enables intraoperative repositioning of misplaced screws.

In a retrospective cohort study, we compared the outcomes among clinical and radiographic degenerative spondylolisthesis (CARDS) subtypes for patients undergoing posterior lumbar decompression and fusion (PLDF) or transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) and evaluated the CARDS system as a tool to guide clinical decisions regarding the treatment of degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS). ⋯ Patients with disc space collapse and endplate apposition (CARDS type A) appear to benefit from TLIF. However, patients with lumbar spondylolisthesis without disc space collapse or kyphotic angulation (CARDS types B and C) showed no benefit from additional interbody placement.

The Venous Circle of Trolard: An Anatomical Study with Application to Approaches to the Basal Brain.
The arterial circle of Willis is a well-known and interconnecting set of blood vessels at the base of the brain. However, its lesser-known venous counterpart, the circle of Trolard, has had almost no attention in the extant medical literature. ⋯ A better understanding of the venous circle of Trolard might decrease iatrogenic injury during approaches to the base of the brain and improve diagnoses based on imaging of the skull base. To our knowledge, this is the first anatomical study dedicated to the circle of Trolard.

We sought to assess the lumbar sympathetic chain (LSC) relation to the surgical corridor for the oblique lumbar approach and the ability to mobilize the LSC. ⋯ The LSC tract usually lies in the oblique corridor in L4/5 but keeps decreasing in prevalence when approaching L3/4 and L2/3 levels. It can be mobilized a few millimeters close to or away from the psoas muscle. Care should be taken to prevent an LSC injury, particularly when the LSC needs to be retracted along with the psoas muscle.

The Chiari malformations present heterogeneous entities, raising many questions regarding their natural history, pathophysiology, treatment options, and prognosis. Bibliometric analyses have emerged as a method to assess the impact of articles in current clinical practice. ⋯ The present bibliometric analysis provides a succinct appraisal of the most cited articles concerning Chiari malformation, allowing a deeper insight in this area and its main influential articles with their impact on current clinical practice and future research.
