General anesthesia versus conscious sedation for acute ischemic stroke endovascular therapy: A Meta Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Endovascular thrombectomy (E.V.T.) is the primary treatment for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Nevertheless, the optimal choice of anesthetic modality during E.V.T. remains uncertain. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to summarize existing literature from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to guide the selection of the most appropriate anesthetic modality for AIS patients undergoing E.V.T. ⋯ G.A. had superior recanalization rates in AIS patients undergoing endovascular therapy, but functional outcomes, mortality, and NIHSS scores were similar. Secondary outcomes showed no significant differences, except for a higher risk of hypotension with G.A. More trials are required to determine the optimal anesthesia approach for thrombectomy in AIS patients.

Percutaneous Curved Vertebroplasty Versus Unilateral Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Percutaneous curved vertebroplasty (PCVP), a modified traditional unilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty (UPVP) technique, is increasingly being used to treat osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs); however, its advantages remain controversial. This meta-analysis was conducted to determine whether PCVP is superior to traditional UPVP in treating OVCFs. ⋯ PCVP was superior to UPVP in terms of reducing the bone cement leakage rate and providing long-term pain relief. Further trials with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods are required to verify these findings owing to the potential risk of bias.

Learning curve for endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery (ETSS) is emerging as an effective, minimally invasive surgery technique for brain tumors of the pituitary fossa. Using a surgical endoscope, surgeons can obtain a broader, nearer, and more apparent visual field with minimal keyhole entrance. However, ETSS may require a steep learning curve to achieve technical competence and relevant outcomes. Moreover, there is no consensus on the learning process of ETSS. We aimed to review and determine the technical proficiency points of ETSS and discuss how to accelerate the learning curve. ⋯ ETSS is an efficient and minimally invasive alternative surgical option for pituitary tumors. Plateau points may differ according to outcome measures, patient selection, training status, and surgical conditions. Therefore, great care should be taken when interpreting the learning curve. A systematic training program is essential to improve the learning process of endoscopic neurosurgical procedures.

The field of neurosurgery has consistently represented an area of innovation and integration of technology since its inception. As such, machine learning (ML) has found its way into applications within neurosurgery relatively rapidly. Through this bibliometric review and cluster analysis, we seek to identify trends and emerging applications of ML within neurosurgery. ⋯ This review highlights the most impactful articles pertaining to ML in the field of neurosurgery. ML has been applied into several sub-specialties within neurosurgery to optimize patient care, with special attention to outcome predictors, patient selection, and surgical decision making.
