Expansive spinal cord injury after autologous olfactory mucosal transplantation: case report and systematic review.
To present strategies for managing tumor mass formation and their corresponding postoperative outcomes. ⋯ Due to the scarcity of described cases, there is no specific treatment for this tumor. Although our patient remained stable after conservative treatment, other studies have shown improvement in symptoms after mass resection. It is essential that the management of this complication be researched further due to the variety of clinical characteristics presented.

Frailty is a state of decreased physiologic reserve associated with adverse treatment outcomes across surgical specialties. We sought to determine whether frailty affected patient outcomes after elective treatment (open microsurgical clipping or endovascular therapy [EVT]) of unruptured cerebral aneurysms (UCAs). ⋯ Frailty was associated with an increased likelihood of 30- and 90-day readmissions after elective treatment of UCAs. Frailty was notably associated with several postoperative complications, longer LOSs, and nonroutine disposition in the treatment of UCAs.

Congenital hydrocephalus is a significant challenge in neurosurgery, particularly in resource-limited settings. This study focuses on the congenital hydrocephalus in Brazil, a developing country, over the past 13 years. ⋯ Pediatric hydrocephalus in Brazil's public health system is a significant burden. Congenital hydrocephalus prevalence and mortality emphasize the need for early diagnosis and treatment. Early diagnosis, prenatal care, and adequate resources are crucial. This study offers insights into congenital hydrocephalus, highlighting challenges and future directions for improved care.

The aim of the present study was to retrospectively analyze and investigate the clinical data of 704 cases of ruptured intracranial aneurysms (RIAs) and unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs). The risk factors predicting aneurysm rupture were explored from the perspective of the clinical characteristics of intracranial aneurysm (IA). ⋯ The present findings indicated that hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis have a protective effect on aneurysm rupture, and different anatomical sites of IA may be risk factors for the occurrence of IA rupture. Among the anatomical sites of IA, the anterior communicating artery and posterior communicating artery have a higher fracture risk.

Symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) leads to functional impairment and pain. While radiologic characterization of the morphological stenosis grade can aid in the diagnosis, it may not always correlate with patient symptoms. Artificial intelligence (AI) may diagnose symptomatic LSS in patients solely based on self-reported history questionnaires. ⋯ Our results indicate that ML can automate the diagnosis of LSS based on self-reported questionnaires with high accuracy. Implementation of standardized and intelligence-automated workflow may serve as a supportive diagnostic tool to streamline patient management and potentially lower health care costs.
