The natural history, treatment options, and clinical outcomes of pancreatic metastases to the brain remain largely unknown. Here, we seek to investigate characteristics that influence OS in pancreatic metastases to the brain. ⋯ Median OS is influenced by age, multiorgan metastases, and treatment of the primary tumor. These data highlight the marginal benefit of treatment, yet improved quality of life (QOL) remains to be elucidated.

The heterogeneity of the somatotroph adenomas, especially for sparsely granulated (SG) and densely granulated (DG) subtypes, has attracted great attention in identifying their imaging biomarker. The purpose of the current study was to compare the diagnostic performance of diffusion-weighted and T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences for preoperatively distinguishing the granulation patterns of somatotroph adenomas. ⋯ Our results indicated that compared with previously used T2-weighted imaging, the DWI sequence, especially the combined diagnosis index of rDWI and rADC, could more efficiently distinguish the granulation patterns of somatotroph adenomas preoperatively.

Surgeons commonly perform Decompressive craniectomy (DC) to manage patients with cerebral ischemic infarction. However, there are conflicting data on the long-term functional outcomes following DC. Therefore, this study aims to determine the functional outcome of patients with cerebral ischemic infarction after DC. ⋯ The present study showed that mortality and mRS scores at various times are associated with infarction volume and older age in patients with ischemic stroke.

In preliminary studies, advanced intracranial stents appear to have a favorable safety profile for intracranial aneurysm treatment. This dual-center study is a head-to-head comparison of the low-profile Acandis Acclino stent (a third-generation stent) and the first- and second-generation Enterprise stent. ⋯ The results indicate a favorable safety profile of the Acclino over the Enterprise, justifying the use of advanced stent systems in clinical practice. However, further comparative studies of the Acclino and other competing stent systems are needed to draw a definitive conclusion on the state of stent-assisted coiling.
