The Coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic ushered a paradigm shift in medical education, accelerating the transition to virtual learning in select cases. The Virtual Global Spine Conference (VGSC), launched at the height of the pandemic, is a testament to this evolution, providing an independent educational series for spine care professionals worldwide. This study assesses VGSC's 3-year performance, focusing on accessibility, engagement, and educational value. ⋯ The VGSC has demonstrated significant value as a virtual educational tool in spine education. Its diverse content and ease of access will likely enable it to drive value well into the post-pandemic years. Maintaining and expanding engagement, beyond North America in particular, remains a priority.

Genetically Distinct Oligosarcoma Arising from Oligodendroglioma: Systematic Review & Illustrative Case Example.
Oligosarcoma is a rare central nervous system (CNS) neoplasm that may arise following oligodendroglioma resection, which demonstrates a unique genetic profile and aggressive clinical phenotype. We present a systematic review and illustrative case example emphasizing the clinical and prognostic features of this unusual and unfavorable neuro-oncologic disease. ⋯ Oligosarcoma is a prognostically unfavorable CNS neoplasm with characteristic imaging and pathologic features, and a strong association with previously resected oligodendroglioma. Aggressive treatment is recommended, including gross total resection and adjuvant chemoradiation. Further study is required to define optimal treatment protocol for this CNS malignancy.

En bloc resection remains the cornerstone treatment for malignant bone tumors affecting the spine. The thoracic spine poses unique challenges because of the proximity of crucial structures. This study assesses outcomes of patients who underwent en bloc spondylectomy for malignant bone tumors at the thoracic level. ⋯ Managing malignant thoracic bone tumors poses significant challenges. This study underscores the criticality of achieving adequate margins, particularly after previous intralesional approaches.

Primary thyroid cancer metastasizing to the spine portends poor survival and low quality of life. Current management strategies continue to evolve. This single-institution retrospective study analyzes outcomes after spinal stereotactic radiosurgery for patients with spinal metastases from thyroid cancer. ⋯ SRS can be utilized as an effective and safe primary and adjuvant treatment option for primary thyroid metastases to the spine.

Sacroiliac joint (SIJ) fusion, to treat back pain caused by SIJ dysfunction, can employ open or minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques and either cylindrical (screw-shaped) or triangular (wedge-shaped) implants. Fusion nonunion sometimes explains recurrent SIJ pain following fusion and occasionally requires hardware revision. MIS revision minimizes patient pain, infection, and disability, but due to the triangular implant size and form factor, implant removal can present challenges for MIS access during the explantation and achieving good bony purchase for reinstrumentation. Here, we report a prone single-position lateral MIS/posterior mini-open procedure for triangular-implant SIJ fusion revision. ⋯ The use of navigation and MIS access can significantly decrease the complexity of lateral hardware removal, and mini-open navigated screw-and-rod constructs offer reinstrumentation options accessible to surgeons unfamiliar with specialized posterior SIJ systems.
