Ultrasound-Guided Resection of High-Grade Gliomas: A Single-Arm Meta-Analysis.
High-grade gliomas (HGGs) present a challenge in neuro-oncology, often necessitating surgical resection for optimal management. Ultrasound holds promise in achieving better gross total resection (GTR) and improving outcomes. This meta-analysis systematically evaluates literature providing robust evidence on the use of intraoperative ultrasonography (iUSG) in HGG resection. ⋯ Our study provided robust data on the utilization of iUSG-guided resection regarding the attainment of GTR and the complications related to resection. However, challenges such as outcome heterogeneity and limited complication reporting highlight the need for further research to optimize iUSG in HGG treatment. Long-term follow-up studies on patient survival and postsurgery quality of life will complement existing literature, guiding clinical practices in managing HGG.

Venous sinus thrombosis associated posterior cranial fossa surgery. A systematic review and meta-analysis of natural history, risk factors, treatment and outcome.
Venous sinus thromboses (VSTs) are rare complications of neurosurgical procedures in the proximity of the dural sinuses. Surgery of the posterior cranial fossa (PCF) and particularly of the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) shows increased risk of VST. VST management is challenging because anticoagulant therapy must be balanced with the risk of postoperative bleeding. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the most important neuroradiologic and clinical aspects of VST after PCF/CPA surgery. ⋯ VST is a relatively frequent complication after PCF/CPA surgery and a presigmoid approach and intraoperative sinus injury represent the most significant risk factors. However, the clinical course is generally benign, with no advantage of antithrombotic therapy.

The objective of this study is to thoroughly investigate the AOS by conducting a comprehensive literature review, providing insights into its anatomy and surgical implications. ⋯ The AOS is sometimes vital in neurosurgery, facilitating precise interventions and serving as a conduit in suboccipital bypass surgeries. Understanding its variations is essential for neurosurgeons, showcasing ongoing advancements in patient care.

This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on hydrogel therapy for spinal cord injury to visualize the research status, identify hotspots, and explore the development trends in this field. ⋯ In summary, this study provided a comprehensive analysis of the current research status and frontiers of hydrogel therapy for spinal cord injury. The findings provide a foundation for future research and clinical translation efforts of hydrogel therapy in this field.

CSF SHUNT REINFECTION AND MALFUNCTION IN ECUADORIAN CHILDREN WITH DIFFERENT RESHUNTING CRITERIA AFTER INFECTION. "IS JUST A SHUNT AFTER ANOTHER?
There is no firm evidence regarding cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt reimplantation after infection in the pediatric population. The purpose of this study was to compare different criteria and analyze new shunt failure. ⋯ G2 reimplantation criteria were related to improved pleocytosis, CSF proteins, and blood neutrophils compared with G1. Mechanical and infectious dysfunction of the new shunt was 3 times more prevalent in G1 than in G2, considering the differences between the groups at diagnosis. Increased parameters of infection at diagnosis were associated with future malfunction more than parameters before reimplantation in both groups.
