The treatment of symptomatic Tarlov cysts remains a controversial topic within neurosurgery. We describe our experience with patients who underwent surgical intervention for sacral Tarlov cysts at a single institution. General and disease-specific outcome measures were used to assess health-related quality of life. ⋯ Our longitudinal series demonstrated patient-reported improvement following surgery for symptomatic sacral Tarlov cysts using a validated disease-specific health-related quality of life scale through 12 months after surgery. Patient age and preoperative duration of symptoms were not correlated with outcome.

We aimed to describe spinal biomechanics and injury patterns in rowing. ⋯ Rowing has increased in popularity throughout the United States. Up-to-date knowledge of rowing biomechanics and spinal injury patterns is necessary for prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the injured rowing athlete.

Endovascular coiling of ruptured tiny saccular intracranial aneurysms: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The safety and efficacy of endovascular coiling of ruptured tiny saccular intracranial aneurysms (IAs) (≤3 mm) remain unknown. ⋯ Our meta-analysis demonstrates that coiling for ruptured tiny saccular IA is a feasible, effective, and safe approach that is associated with favorable clinical outcomes in both the short and long term for patients with mild to moderate Hunt and Hess grades.

The operative classification of scoliosis is well-developed but inadequate for guiding conservative treatment. The current conservative classification for juvenile and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (JAIS) exhibits noticeable deficiencies. This study aimed to establish the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) classification and assess its clinical value in the conservative treatment of JAIS. ⋯ The PUMCH-SSE classification demonstrates good inter-observer reliability and intra-observer reproducibility. In addition, the classification may be used to guide the conservative treatment of JAIS in clinical settings.

Reports on the management and survival of children with myelomeningocele defects in Bangladesh are limited. This study describes the characteristics and outcomes of these children, focusing on the timing of surgical repair and factors affecting survival. ⋯ Timely neurosurgical repair of myelomeningoceles in Bangladesh is hindered by late patient presentation, resulting in a high preoperative patient death rate. Neurosurgical intervention remains a significant predictor of survival. Increased access to neurosurgical care and education of families and non-neurosurgical providers on the need for timely surgical intervention are important for improving the survival of infants with myelomeningoceles.
