Multicenter StudyNeonatal mortality rate and risk factors in northeast China: analysis of 5,277 neonates in 2005.
Healthcare has dramatically improved for both mothers and neonates over the last three decades in China. However, the reported rates of morbidity and mortality vary among different regions of China, and the exact rates in Northeast China are unknown. This study aimed to determine neonatal morbidity and mortality rates and the associated risk factors in Northeast China. ⋯ In 2005, the overall morbidity and mortality was 7.0% and 9.5%0, respectively in northeast China, and preterm delivery was the highest risk factor for neonatal mortality. The prevention on preterm delivery should be a top priority for the improvement of neonatal healthcare.

Effectiveness of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block and rectus sheath block in pain control and recovery after gynecological transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic surgery.
To evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) and rectus sheath (RS) blocks in pain management and recovery after gynecological single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS). ⋯ The RS block alone was the most effective in relieving pain and accelerating general recovery after gynecological SILS.

Case ReportsUterine inversion after controlled cord traction during caesarean section: a case report.
Inversion of the uterus during caesarean section is a rare but life-threatening complication of the procedure that requires immediate treatment, which is reversion and awareness due to the very serious adverse effects that it may have. ⋯ Uterine inversion during caesarean section is a serious complication, but fortunately very rare. However, the obstetrician should be aware that the complication should be quickly identified and act without hesitation because it is critical for the well being of the patient.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized-clinical trial examining a neoprene abdominal binder in gynecologic surgery patients.
Pain control and early ambulation are two important postoperative goals. Strategies that decrease morphine use while increasing ambulation have the potential to decrease postoperative complications. In this study the authors sought to determine the effect of an abdominopelvic binder on postoperative morphine use, pain, and ambulation in the first day after surgery. ⋯ The binder increased ambulations in the subset of patients at the highest risk for postoperative complications: elderly, cancer patients, and vertical incisions. Routine use of the binder may benefit particularly high-risk gynecologic surgical patients.

The aim of this study was to compare the success of surgical procedures performed by laparoscopy and laparotomy in the treatment of tubal ectopic pregnancy. ⋯ The percentage of tubal patency and intrauterine pregnancies after laparoscopical surgical treatment was not higher than after conventional surgical treatment by laparotomy.
