[Respiratory distress syndrome in the adult and pregnancy. Hemodynamic consequences].
RDS in adults is an unusual complication of pregnancy. We analysed a case of adult respiratory distress syndrome during pregnancy and assessed the haemodynamic data under controlled ventilation whilst a spontaneous delivery was carried out. The rapid drop in pulmonary artery pressure and in the QS-QT complex after the delivery suggests that there may be a placental shunt which gives a too high reading for exaggeration of the left to right intrapulmonary shunt figures obtained.

Case Reports[Heart surgery with extracorporeal circulation during pregnancy. Review of the literature with a case history].

[Functioning of implantable catheters of intraperitoneal chemotherapy].
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy with a totally implantable catheter was performed in 42 patients with advanced ovarian cancer who received 178 courses of chemotherapy administered in 2 l of solution. Major complication was inflow obstruction due to fibrosis around the catheter observed in 10 patients, 23.8% of the cases. ⋯ Outflow obstruction which occurred in 23 patients (54.8%), did not create discomfort and could not be considered as a complication. Despite the problems, intraperitoneal chemotherapy with a totally implantable catheter appeared feasible in at least 80% of the patients.

Extra-uterine pregnancy is the most common emergency in gynaecology and obstetrics in the Hospital Centre of Libreville, and the diagnosis of blood in the peritoneal cavity is synonymous with extra-uterine pregnancy. All the same, when the authors reviewed 429 cases of haemoperitoneum 17 were shown not to be due to ectopic pregnancy. ⋯ It is essential to carry out histological examination for the differential diagnosis between an ovarian pregnancy and a ruptured cyst as well as choriocarcinoma or bilharzia. If it is not possible to find the site of the bleeding even after looking underneath the mesocolon, a search must be made for coagulation disorders due to a virus such as HIV.
