Comparative StudyEffects of sevoflurane and propofol on cultured bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells of rats.
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) is a potentially effective vehicle for the cell and gene therapy in clinical disease treatment. We studied whether the most commonly used anesthetic drugs have negative effects on rat BMSCs in vitro. ⋯ The study indicates that it is necessary to choose the right anesthesia during the BMSCs transplantation therapy.

Evaluation of factors associated with the achievement of an optimal teicoplanin trough concentration .
Because teicoplanin has a long serum half-life, a longer period of time is needed to achieve a steady-state concentration compared with vancomycin. The administration of an initial loading dose has been recommended to reach an effective teicoplanin serum concentration for the treatment of methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). However, little is known regarding factors that affect teicoplanin concentration. This study aimed to retrospectively determine which factors are associated with achieving an optimal teicoplanin trough level. ⋯ These results suggested that patients with decreased renal function (eGFR < 56 mL/min) can safely achieve an optimal trough level with the 1-day loading dose. In patients with normal renal function (eGFR ≥ 56 mL/min), administration of a 2-day loading dose may be needed to rapidly achieve a trough concentration ≥ 15 µg/mL. . -

Evaluation of a novel autoinjector for subcutaneous self-administration of belimumab in systemic lupus erythematosus .
To study self-administration and pharmacokinetics (PK) of subcutaneous (SC) belimumab in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ Patients with SLE successfully self-administered belimumab SC using a novel autoinjector; the PK profile was stable following a switch from IV with acceptable AE and pain levels. The recommended dosing interval between IV to SC dosing is 1 - 4 weeks. .

Randomized Controlled TrialDiclofenac systemic bioavailability of a topical 1% diclofenac + 3% menthol combination gel vs. an oral diclofenac tablet in healthy volunteers: a randomized, open-label, crossover study .
Evaluate systemic exposure with repeated topical application of a fixed-combination topical gel product containing 1% diclofenac sodium and 3% menthol in either of 2 formulation packages relative to oral administration. ⋯ As expected, systemic exposure was significantly lower with the topical diclofenac/menthol treatment regimens compared with oral diclofenac. Local skin AEs were increased with the topical combination product, but the risk of systemic AEs was low. .

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the treatment efficacy between tigecycline plus high-dose cefoperazone-sulbactam and tigecycline monotherapy against ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.
The present study examined the effect of high-dose cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with tigecycline against ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(XDR-AB). ⋯ High dose of cefoperazone-sulbactam can improve the antimicrobial activity of tigecycline against XDR-AB. .
