Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the treatment efficacy between tigecycline plus high-dose cefoperazone-sulbactam and tigecycline monotherapy against ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.
The present study examined the effect of high-dose cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with tigecycline against ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(XDR-AB). ⋯ High dose of cefoperazone-sulbactam can improve the antimicrobial activity of tigecycline against XDR-AB. .

Randomized Controlled TrialDiclofenac systemic bioavailability of a topical 1% diclofenac + 3% menthol combination gel vs. an oral diclofenac tablet in healthy volunteers: a randomized, open-label, crossover study .
Evaluate systemic exposure with repeated topical application of a fixed-combination topical gel product containing 1% diclofenac sodium and 3% menthol in either of 2 formulation packages relative to oral administration. ⋯ As expected, systemic exposure was significantly lower with the topical diclofenac/menthol treatment regimens compared with oral diclofenac. Local skin AEs were increased with the topical combination product, but the risk of systemic AEs was low. .

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudySedation and use of analgesics in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography: a double-blind comparison study of meperidine/midazolam, remifentanil/ midazolam, and remifentanil alone.
To compare the efficacy and remifentanil with midazolam for conscious sedation during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). ⋯ Both continuous remifentanil infusion alone and remifentanil plus midazolam provided satisfactory analgesia when used for sedation for ERCP, however, continuous remifentanil infusion alone resulted in increased operator satisfaction scores and expedited recoveryroom discharge.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntrathecal dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to ropivacaine in hysteroscopic surgery: a prospective, randomized control study.
To compare the effects and side effects of intrathecal ropivacaine supplemented with dexmedetomidine and fentanyl in hysteroscopic surgery under spinal anesthesia. ⋯ Intrathecal dexmedetomidine (5 μg) produced prolonged motor and sensory blockade and less pruritus compared with fentanyl (15 μg) in hysteroscopic surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the effects of dezocine, fentanyl, and placebo on emergence agitation after sevoflurane anesthesia in children.
The purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy and adverse events of dezocine with that of fentanyl or placebo for the control of emergence agitation. ⋯ In children undergoing adenotonsillectomy under sevoflurane anesthesia, a single IV injection of dezocine 0.1 mgxkg(-1) and fentanyl 1 μg×kg(-1) were comparable in decreasing the incidence and severity of emergence agitation. However, the use of dezocine was associated with a lower incidence of postoperative side effects.
