Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of a single dose of an amylmetacresol/2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol plus lidocaine lozenge or a hexylresorcinol lozenge for the treatment of acute sore throat due to upper respiratory tract infection.
Sore throat is a frequent reason for seeking medical care but few prescription options are available. Lozenges are effective in delivering active ingredients to the throat. This study was conducted to determine the analgesic efficacy of two lozenges one containing amylmetacresol (AMC)/2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol (DCBA) and lidocaine and one containing hexylresorcinol versus placebo in patients with acute sore throat due to upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). ⋯ Both AMC/DCBA + lidocaine and hexylresorcinol lozenges provided rapid and effective sore throat relief in patients with URTI.

Effect of a 36-month pharmaceutical care program on the coronary heart disease risk in elderly diabetic and hypertensive patients.
To examine the effect of a pharmaceutical care program on the coronary heart disease risk in elderly diabetic and hypertensive patients. ⋯ The pharmaceutical care program resulted in better clinical measurements and reduced the cardiovascular risk scores in elderly diabetic and hypertensive patients over a 36-month period.

Epinephrine infiltration on nasal field causes significant hemodynamic changes: hypotension episode monitored by impedance-cardiography under general anesthesia.
Local infiltration of epinephrine-containing local anesthetics is widely used in clinics particularly in the procedure of surgeries on vascularity field to provide good analgesia and hemostasis. A prospective randomized double blind control study was designed to observe hemodynamic changes caused by local infiltration of epinephrine- containing lidocaine solution on nasal field under general anesthesia. ⋯ Local infiltration of epinephrine-containing lidocaine solution on nasal field causes significant decrease in MAP and SVRI, and increase in HR, CI and ACI.
