Multicenter StudyTen-Year Followup after Tension-Free Vaginal Tape-Obturator Procedure for Stress Urinary Incontinence.
Suburethral tapes are a standard surgical treatment for stress urinary incontinence. The aim of the study was to evaluate subjective and objective cure rates 10 years after a tension-free vaginal tape-obturator procedure. ⋯ Subjective and objective cure rates 10 years after the tension-free vaginal tape-obturator procedure were 69% and 64%, respectively. The vaginal extrusion rate in this study was slightly higher than in other series but major long-term complications appeared to be rare.

Multicenter StudyPainful Bladder Filling and Painful Urgency are Distinct Characteristics in Men and Women with Urological Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndromes: A MAPP Research Network Study.
We describe bladder associated symptoms in patients with urological chronic pelvic pain syndromes. We correlated these symptoms with urological, nonurological, psychosocial and quality of life measures. ⋯ Men and women with bladder symptoms characterized as painful filling or painful urgency had more severe urological symptoms, more generalized symptoms and worse quality of life than participants who reported neither characteristic, suggesting that these symptom characteristics might represent important subsets of patients with urological chronic pelvic pain syndromes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyMicrosurgical Spermatic Cord Denervation as a Treatment for Chronic Scrotal Content Pain: A Multicenter Open Label Trial.
We prospectively evaluated the results of microsurgical spermatic cord denervation in a series of patients with chronic scrotal content pain in a multicenter study, including 1 center in Germany and 3 centers in Chile. ⋯ After proper selection of patients microsurgical spermatic cord denervation seems to be a safe and efficient procedure to treat chronic scrotal content pain. Considering the limitations of the study, a randomized, controlled trial with longer followup is highly warranted.

Multicenter StudyUtilization and Outcomes of Inpatient Urological Care at Safety Net Hospitals.
Because proposed funding cuts in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act may impact care for urological patients at safety net hospitals, we examined the use, outcomes and costs of inpatient urological surgery at safety net vs nonsafety net facilities prior to health care reform. ⋯ Reductions in funding to safety net hospitals with health care reform could adversely impact access to care for patients with a broad range of urological conditions, potentially exacerbating existing disparities for vulnerable populations served by these facilities.

Multicenter StudyHospital Surgical Volume and Associated Postoperative Complications of Pediatric Urological Surgery in the United States.
Hospital and provider surgical volume have been increasingly linked to surgical outcomes. However, this topic has rarely been addressed in children. We investigated whether hospital surgical volume impacts complication rates in pediatric urology. ⋯ Urological procedures performed in children at non-high volume hospitals were associated with an increased risk of in hospital, NSQIP identified postoperative complications, including a small but significant increase in postoperative mortality, mostly following nephrectomy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
