Randomized Controlled TrialTanezumab Reduces Pain in Women with Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome and Patients with Non-Urological Associated Somatic Syndromes.
We performed pooled analyses from 3 small, clinical trials of tanezumab in patients with urological chronic pelvic pain, including chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome and interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, to identify patient subpopulations more likely to benefit from tanezumab treatment. ⋯ Women with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome and patients with symptoms suggesting the concomitant presence of nonurological associated somatic syndromes were more likely to experience significant pain reduction with tanezumab than with placebo therapy. In contrast, no difference was reported in response between tanezumab and placebo therapy for men with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms only.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyMortality and Androgen Deprivation Therapy as Salvage Treatment for Biochemical Recurrence after Primary Therapy for Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer.
Androgen deprivation therapy is often used as salvage treatment in men with rising prostate specific antigen after initial radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy for clinically localized prostate cancer. Given the lack of evidence from general practice, we examined the association of salvage androgen deprivation therapy with mortality in an observational cohort study. ⋯ We found no association of salvage androgen deprivation therapy with all-cause or cause specific mortality in most men with biochemical recurrence after primary radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy for clinically localized prostate cancer. Men with quickly progressed disease may derive a clinical benefit from salvage androgen deprivation therapy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPredictors of Recurrence, and Progression-Free and Overall Survival following Open versus Robotic Radical Cystectomy: Analysis from the RAZOR Trial with a 3-Year Followup.
The RAZOR (Randomized Open versus Robotic Cystectomy) trial revealed noninferior 2-year progression-free survival for robotic radical cystectomy. This update was performed with extended followup for 3 years to determine potential differences between the approaches. We also report 3-year overall survival and sought to identify factors predicting recurrence, and progression-free and overall survival. ⋯ This analysis showed no difference in recurrence, 3-year progression-free survival or 3-year overall survival for robotic vs open radical cystectomy. It provides important prospective data on the oncologic efficacy of robotic radical cystectomy and high level data for patient counseling.

ReviewTargeting Metastatic Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer: Chemohormonal Therapy and New Combinatorial Approaches.
Androgen deprivation therapy alone has been the standard of care for metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer for the last 75 years. This review focuses on recent trials and mechanisms which highlight the new paradigm of combining androgen deprivation therapy with other agents, changing the treatment of patients with prostate cancer who have advanced disease. ⋯ Combination therapy has evolved as the standard of care for metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer. The ideal combination is tailored to patients after individualized counseling taking into account general health and comorbid illness status.

Meta AnalysisIntravesical Therapy for the Treatment of Nonmuscle Invasive Bladder Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
We systematically review the benefits and harms of intravesical therapies for nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer. ⋯ For nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer several intravesical therapies are associated with a decreased risk of recurrence vs transurethral bladder tumor resection alone. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin is the only agent associated with a decreased progression risk vs transurethral bladder tumor resection alone, but may be associated with a higher risk of adverse events than other intravesical therapies, indicating trade-offs between potential benefits and harms.
