Multicenter Study Observational StudyPediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in South African PICUs: A Multisite Point-Prevalence Study.
To describe the prevalence of pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (pARDS) and the characteristics of children with pARDS in South African PICUs. ⋯ The 30.6% prevalence of pARDS in South Africa is substantially higher than reports from other sociogeographical regions, highlighting the need for further research in this setting.

Multicenter StudyCenter Volume and Survival Relationship for Neonates With Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Treated With Extracorporeal Life Support.
Literature is emerging regarding the role of center volume as an independent variable contributing to improved outcomes. A higher volume of index procedures may be associated with decreased morbidity and mortality. This association has not been examined for the subgroup of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) receiving extracorporeal life support (ECLS). Our study aims to examine the risk-adjusted association between center volume and outcomes in CDH-ECLS neonates, hypothesizing that higher center volume confers a survival advantage. ⋯ In this study, a survival advantage directly proportional to center volume was observed for CDH patients managed with ECLS. There was no significant difference in most complication rates. Future studies should aim to identify factors contributing to the higher mortality and morbidity observed at low-volume centers.

Bleeding in Critically Ill Children With Malignancy or Hematopoietic Cell Transplant: A Single-Center Prospective Cohort Study.
To determine the incidence of bleeding in critically ill children with malignancy and to describe associated patient characteristics, interventions, and clinical outcomes. ⋯ In this prospective cohort of children with malignancy, the incidence rate of bleeding was 20%. Most events were classified as minimal bleeding. Low platelet count and radiation therapy were variables independently associated with severe bleeding episodes.

The Design of Nested Adaptive Clinical Trials of Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome Children in a Single Study.
Describe the statistical design of the Personalized Immunomodulation in Sepsis-induced Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) (PRECISE) study. ⋯ The adaptive design incorporates innovative statistical features that allow for multiple active arms to be compared with placebo based on a child's personal immunophenotype. The design increases power and provides optimal operating characteristics compared with traditional conservative methods.

Malnutrition and Nutrition Support in Latin American PICUs: The Nutrition in PICU (NutriPIC) Study.
To characterize the nutritional status of children admitted to Latin American (LA) PICUs and to describe the adequacy of nutrition support in reference to contemporary international recommendations. ⋯ The NutriPIC study found that in 2021 malnutrition was highly prevalent especially in PICU admissions of less than 24 months old. Retrospectively, the 7-day median nutritional support appears to meet both energy and protein requirements.
