To investigate vascular changes of myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV) after ranibizumab treatment using optical coherence tomography-angiography (OCTA). ⋯ OCTA allowed the detection of qualitative and quantitative vascular changes in mCNV. The disappearance of the feeder vessel was associated with better anatomical as well as functional outcomes at the last follow-up visit.

Current Outcomes of Anti-VEGF Therapy in the Treatment of Macular Oedema Secondary to Branch Retinal Vein Occlusions: A Meta-Analysis.
The current body of evidence on the efficacy and safety of anti-VEGFs for macular oedema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) is steadily growing as large clinical trials and observational studies are continually completed. The aim of this meta-analysis is to analyse anatomical and functional outcomes in response to anti-VEGF therapy using evidence generated from a pooled analysis of current clinical trials and observational studies. ⋯ This meta-analysis confirms the comparable safety and efficacy of anti-VEGF therapies for patients with cystoid macular oedema secondary to BRVO. There is a need for randomised prospective comparative trials of anti-VEGF agents for BRVO.

To evaluate the reliability of vessel density measurements in the peripapillary retina using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) and to analyze the correlation with retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in healthy subjects. ⋯ Vessel density measurements showed good repeatability and reproducibility by OCT-A in the peripapillary retina, the vessel density was positively related to RNFL thickness and negatively related to optic disc area and rim area.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Structural and functional assessment of macula in patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy submitted to panretinal photocoagulation and associated intravitreal bevacizumab injections: a comparative, randomised, controlled trial.
To compare the efficacy of therapy with panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) and intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injections versus PRP alone in patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy (HR-PDR) with a 6-month follow-up. ⋯ In HR-PDR, using IVB injections as adjuvant treatment to PRP reduces the VA deterioration and results in decreased FT and MV measurements compared to PRP alone.

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the major complications of diabetes mellitus and a leading cause of visual loss. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is an ocular manifestation of the disease causing visual deterioration. The prevalence of visual impairment due to DME is estimated to be 5.4% in Europe. ⋯ Therefore, intravitreal VEGF inhibitors are ideal candidates to treat DME by counteracting VEGF overexpression. This review summarizes the results of the most recent prospective, controlled studies on DME with promising novel VEGF inhibitors. It focuses on the efficacy and safety aspects of anti-VEGF treatment of DME.
