Two infants presenting with Kasabach-Merritt syndrome point out several points: the hemangioma may look innocuous with small proportions. The coagulopathy may be represented by a simple thrombopenia or an intravascular coagulation (PDF, ethanol test) of bad prognosis. ⋯ Radiotherapy is proposed in cases of emergency. Heparin and antifibrinolytic treatments are restricted to cases with severe coagulopathy.

Four patients suffering from cement burns are reported. Lesions consist of sharp-edged necrotic ulcerations, leaving hypertrophic scars after a normal course of six weeks to two months. Patch-tests are constantly negative in all patients. ⋯ Cement burns are therefore considered to be alkaline burns. An increased use of premixed cement by non-occupational users play an important role in the actual frequency of such lesions. Mandatory preventive measures are needed; correct use of cement, adequate protective garments, cleaning and drying of the skin after work, etc.
