The recent publication of randomized trials investigating the efficacy of adjuvant therapy and completion lymph node dissection at microscopic stage III melanoma calls for a reappraisal of melanoma management from different angles: indications for sentinel lymph node biopsy, indications for completion lymph node dissection in microscopic-stage disease, and adjuvant therapies. Our objective was to evaluate current practices and to question French onco-dermatologists about any changes they envisaged in their practices in the light of recent publications. ⋯ Early melanoma management stands on the verge of major changes thanks to the arrival of efficient adjuvant therapies and a decrease in immediate completion lymph node dissections for patients with microscopic stage III is also anticipated.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study
[Survey of post-graduate training for Dermatology and Venereology residents in France (2005-2010)].
Training procedures for dermatology residents have never been evaluated in French university hospitals. The present study describes the methods used over the last 5 years. ⋯ Despite an overall good opinion on their residency, the dermatology residents involved underlined the need for greater focus on teaching of technical skills (surgery, laser, cosmetic dermatology).

Multicenter Study
[Evaluation of dermatology consultations in a prospective multicenter study involving a French teaching hospital].
Dermatologic practice occurs mainly in the inpatient setting. This activity is also referred to as consultation-liaison dermatology (DL). ⋯ The study of these dermatologic diagnoses in an in-patient setting suggests a number of approaches to more successful management of these consultations.

Multicenter Study
[Treatment by thalidomide of chronic multiforme erythema: its recurrent and continuous variants. A retrospective study of 26 patients].
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of thalidomide in the treatment of chronic erythema multiforme unresponsive to usual treatments. ⋯ The spectacular results obtained here should be verified in a controlled study.

Review Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
[Surgery of pulmonary metastasis from malignant melanoma. Results and criteria of surgical excision].
Lung metastases from malignant melanoma are frequent and they often inaugurate the metastatic stage. Exceptionally, they present as one or a few nodules, and in the absence of any other secondary lesion these cases raise the problem of surgical eradication. A retrospective multicentre study was carried out in a series of 38 patients and its results were compared to the data obtained from a review of 435 published cases in order to assess the value of surgery in terms of survival and to delimit its indications as closely as possible. ⋯ Opinions differ as regards the value of evolutive parameters of the metastasis. For some authors, a more than 5 years interval before the metastasis appears is associated with a good chance of prolonged survival, whereas a less than 6 months or 1 year interval reflects a steadily high progressiveness and in practice precludes surgery. The value of the
