To investigate the effect of dose maintenance, reduction, or discontinuation of the etanercept biosimilar Yisaipu (YSP) on early axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) patients in remission with YSP 50 mg once weekly (QW). ⋯ For patients with early axSpA in remission on YSP for more than 12 weeks, continuation of YSP at full dose was superior to discontinuation of YSP, but not superior to halving the dose.

We verify whether finasteride had a transgenerational effect on the epididymal expression of antioxidant enzymes, and the correlation between these enzymes and blood androgen concentrations in male offspring (F1:Fin) of females fertilized by finasteride-treated male rats. ⋯ Finasteride treatment of adult male rats may cause changes in antioxidant defense system in the epididymis of their offspring, leading to improper ROS concentrations that can affect post-testicular sperm maturation.

First-degree relatives of individuals with premature coronary artery disease (CAD) are at increased risk of CAD. The research hypothesis of this project assumes that there are differences in the metabolic profiles between individuals with and without a positive family history (FH) of premature CAD. ⋯ This study will deepen our knowledge of the aetiopathogenesis of atherosclerosis by identifying metabolic patterns associated with a positive FH of premature CAD. Obtaining a detailed FH will enable adjustments for major risk factors of premature CAD in the proband's first-degree relatives. This research project also provides a chance to discover new biomarkers associated with the risk of premature CAD.

Presacral tumors are a rare group of heterogeneous lesions located in a potential space referred to as the retrorectal or presacral space. Lack of characteristic symptomatology and difficult anatomical localization make the diagnosis and management challenging for a surgeon. The aim of this study was to analyze cases of presacral tumors that underwent surgical treatment with regard to diagnostics, methods and outcomes. ⋯ Presacral tumors are more common in men and more commonly are malignant tumors in this group. The success rate of surgical treatment is 72%, and selection of the surgical approach does not affect the final treatment outcome.

Inhibition of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) is an effective therapeutic tool for lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). There is no available evidence on the efficacy and safety of PCSK9 inhibitors in non-cardiovascular diseases, particularly cancer. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of PCSK9 inhibition on cancer endpoints in mice bearing colon carcinoma, using a nanoliposomal antiPCSK9 vaccine. ⋯ Our results revealed that PCSK9 inhibition not only exerted no harmful effects but also could moderately inhibit tumor growth, and improve lifespan and survival in mice bearing colon cancer.
