For decades, antenatal care in high-resource settings has involved 12-14 face-to-face visits across pregnancy. The COVID-19 pandemic forced many care providers to rapidly embrace telehealth to reduce face-to-face visits. Here we review recent advances in telehealth used to provide antenatal care. ⋯ Adoption of telehealth technologies may improve the antenatal care experience for women and reduce healthcare expenditure without adversely impacting health outcomes for the mother or baby. More studies are warranted to confirm telehealth does not alter the risk of rare outcomes such as maternal or neonatal mortality.

In the United States, the tuberculosis (TB) disease burden and associated factors vary substantially across states. While public health agencies must choose how to deploy resources to combat TB and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), state-level modeling analyses to inform policy decisions have not been widely available. ⋯ Tabby2 allows users to estimate the costs, impact, and cost-effectiveness of different TB prevention approaches for multiple geographic areas in the United States. Expanded testing and treatment for LTBI could accelerate declines in TB incidence in the United States, as demonstrated in the Massachusetts case study.

Natural killer/T cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is an aggressive lymphoma with a poor prognosis. Chimeric antigen receptor-transduced T (CAR-T) cell therapy has become a promising immunotherapeutic strategy against haematologic malignancies. ⋯ In summary, four CAR-T cell lines exhibited significant cytotoxicity against NKTCL cells both in vitro and in vivo. These results indicated the effective therapeutic promise of CD38 and LMP1 CAR-T cells in NKTCL.

Patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) exhibit specific phenotypes of gut microbiota associated with severity. Gut microbiota and host interact primarily through metabolites; regrettably, little is known about their roles in AP biological networks. This study examines how enterobacterial metabolites modulate the innate immune system in AP aggravation. ⋯ The enterobacterial metabolite norharman can decrease HDACs activity to increase H3K9/14 acetylation of Rftn1, which inhibits M1 macrophage activation and restores the balance of lipid metabolism to relieve multiple inflammatory responses. Therefore, norharman may be a promising prodrug to block AP aggravation.

CD133 is considered a marker for cancer stem cells (CSCs) in several types of tumours, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Chimeric antigen receptor-specific T (CAR-T) cells targeting CD133-positive CSCs have emerged as a tool for the clinical treatment of HCC, but immunogenicity, the high cost of clinical-grade recombinant viral vectors and potential insertional mutagenesis limit their clinical application. ⋯ Our study provides a nonviral strategy for constructing CAR-T cells that could also secrete checkpoint blockade inhibitors based on a Sleeping Beauty system from minicircle vectors and revealed a potential benefit of this strategy for male patients with advanced HCC and high CD133 expression (median immunohistochemistry score > 2.284).
