Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 (TREM-1) is secreted by phagocytes in adipose tissue and it also upregulates the expression of genes involved in the inflammatory response and atherosclerotic conditions. This study was aimed to investigate the serum TREM-1 levels in overweight patients. ⋯ This study mainly demonstrated that a high serum TREM-1 level might be an early inflammatory marker in overweight patients. We found that TREM-1 might be associated with BMI in overweight patients regardless of insulin resistance (Tab. 1, Ref. 21). Text in PDF www.elis.sk.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and its complications are among the most serious cardiovascular diseases and its occurrence has risen sharply in recent years. The aim of this pilot study is to explore the relationship between the methylation of matrix metalloproteinases and tissue inhibitors of the metalloproteinases genes' promoter region, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) through the detection of the methylation status of MMP2, TIMP2, TIMP1, and MMP9 genes in peripheral blood. ⋯ In our pilot study, we found no association between DNA methylation of gelatinases and their tissue inhibitors, and the development of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 27).

The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of rapamycin treatment on apoptosis via mTOR pathway in metastatic and non-metastatic human breast cancer cell lines by immunohistochemical and TUNEL analysis. ⋯ Targeting the mTOR pathway in breast cancer treatment may be a treatment option. In addition, the demonstration and confirmation of increased apoptosis in Rapamycin treated groups suggested that Rapamycin, an inhibitor of mTOR, is promising in the treatment of breast cancer (Tab. 2, Fig. 3, Ref. 66).

The aim of this study is to examine the health anxiety states and behaviours of athletes during the social isolation period due to COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ The results of this study showed that the COVID-19 pandemic and social isolation process have some effects on athletes' health anxiety. It will be beneficial to provide psychological support in this period for athletes to have a fast return to competitions and match after the pandemic (Tab. 5, Ref. 24).
