Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is one of the main causes of neonatal deaths. The objective of this study was to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) in neonatal rats with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, as well as its effect on neuronal apoptosis through histopathological and biochemical tests. ⋯ NaHS given to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy model significantly decreased apoptosis in neurons and had a neuroprotective efficacy with an increase in NGF levels (Tab. 1, Fig. 3, Ref. 25).

We investigated the effect of low, medium and high doses of oral vitamin A, on the number of fetal hippocampal neurons. ⋯ Our study demonstrates that vitamin A, beginning from the dosage of 20000 IU/kg, is decreasing the total hippocampal neuron numbers during the critical period of embryonic brain development and that apoptosis may not be the only factor in this outcome (Tab. 1, Fig. 3, Ref. 27).

In the present study, cellular or exosomal expression of H19, an oncofetal lncRNA gene, was evaluated during androgen stimulation via dihydrotestosterone (DHT) or AR blockage via enzalutamide in cultured hormone-sensitive Pca cells which overexpres AR (LNCaP-AR+). ⋯ This experimental study provides evidence that H19 might be involved in androgen receptor pathway. Further research is needed to explore the role of H19 in Pca and intercellular communication via exosomes (Fig. 2, Ref. 32).

To evaluate the effects of different power densities of diode laser on dental pulps in rats. ⋯ It was concluded that the use of diode laser caused changes at the cellular level in histological examination and may induce the formation of tertiary dentin by influencing the secretory activity of odontoblasts. As long as used in accordance with the recommended procedure, the diode laser can be safely used in dental hard tissues (Tab. 1, Fig. 4, Ref. 15).
