To investigate the protective potential of resveratrol (RES) in blunt hepatic trauma (BHT) by exploring the anti-inflammatory and histopathologic effects as well as modulatory effects on hepatic biomarkers of acute injury, regeneration, apoptosis and survival in a rat model of BHT. ⋯ In conclusion, our findings revealed for the first time that RES exerts promising hepato-ameliorative effects against blunt hepatic injury as evidenced by decreased inflammation scores, parallel with improved hepatic histology, decreased serum transaminase activity as well as enhanced modulatory effect on regenerative and apoptotic processes in RES-treated rats subjected to experimentally-induced blunt hepatic trauma (Tab. 1, Fig. 1, Ref. 37).

In this narrative review, our aim was to clarify the roles of diagnostic methods used in COVID-19 disease. ⋯ There is a need for an algorithm, which involves a combination of PCR and CT in diagnosis of COVID-19 (Ref. 85).

Single‑incision mesh vs sacrospinous ligament fixation in posthysterectomy women at a three-year follow-up: a randomized trial.
The primary clinical objective was to prospectively compare the effectiveness of the "single‑incisionMESH" technique versus sacrospinous ligament fixation (ACSSF) in correcting the defect of pelvic organ prolapse(POP) in the anterior and apical compartments, Their effectiveness was assessed at a 1-year/3-year follow-up (FU). ⋯ Our study showed that the vaginal synthetic mesh repair of POP did not improve women's outcomes in terms of effectiveness or adverse effects, while the patient satisfaction is the same as compared to that with sacrospinous ligament fixation at a 3‑year FU. In gynecology, there are situations in which the comparison replaces the scientific solution (Tab. 5, Fig. 2, Ref. 50). The purpose of this paper is to present the development and design of an abdominal retractor which allows a single person to perform operations and the fixation of the operation instruments can be done with one hand. The additional devices make the operation more comfortable for surgeons. ⋯ The present abdominal retractor is user-friendly and all components are easily sterilized by conventional methods (Fig. 7, Ref. 6) Keywords: abdominal retractor, stainless steel retractor, standard surger, fixation system of the frame, lamp, video camera, conventional methods.

Our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for death of aged people from Covid-19 became one of the major concerns of these days. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enhances the normal senescence and accelerates the precocious removal of chronologically young, yet biologically aged cells. Thus, its deficiency is associated with an increase in the cellular oxidative stress. ⋯ Unfortunately, this enzyme deficiency markedly decreases with aging what is involved in increasing of the morbidity rate. The aim of this mini review was to shed more light on the role of G6PD deficiency in aged people infected with Covid-19 (Ref. 20). Keywords: GSPD, Covid-19, elderly people.
