Lichen planus (LP) is one of the chronic inflammatory diseases. Epicardial fatty tissue (EFT) is the adipose tissue in which pro-inflammatory and pro-atherogenic hormones and cytokines are secreted. We planned to investigate the predictive value of EFT in LP patients by evaluating together with Fibrinogen to albumin ratio (FAR) other inflammation markers. ⋯ We found a relationship between LP and FAR together with other inflammation parameters NLR, and PLR. We demonstrated for the first time that FAR, NLR and EFT were independent predictors of LP. Also, there was a significant relationship between these parameters and EFT (Tab. 4, Fig. 1, Ref. 30). The objective of this study was to gain our initial experience in one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) for detecting sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis as compared to standard pathological staging in patients with breast cancer. Fifteen patients with preoperatively confirmed early breast cancer eligible for breast‑saving therapy and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) were enrolled in the study. Lymphatic mapping and SLNs detection were performed through the magnetic method. ⋯ Our initial experience proved OSNA to be a sensitive and efficient alternative to intraoperative assessment of metastases in SLN in breast cancer patients. Moreover, the information obtained by the OSNA method provides the surgeon with the possibility of assessing a more accurate prognosis during the initial surgery (Tab. 3, Fig. 4, Ref. 36). Prospective evaluation of the results of endoscopic lumbar discectomy. ⋯ Endoscopic discectomy provides significant pain relief and improves the patient's ability to perform activities of daily living, contributing to greater satisfaction. It is a safe method with a low risk of surgical and neurological complications (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 27).

To evaluate the effectiveness of endoscopic and surgical intervention in treating anastomotic leaks after oesophagectomy. ⋯ Self-expanding metal stents can reduce leak-related morbidity and mortality after oesophagectomy and may be considered a cost-effective treatment alternative (Tab. 2, Fig. 2, Ref. 21).

Basal cell carcinoma is the most frequently occurring cancer in humans. In light of its vast prevalence, this disease causes a substantial burden on the quality of life of patients. Histopathologic examination is currently the gold standard for diagnostic confirmation and a requisite for therapeutic planning. ⋯ This review focused on contemporary evidence on basal cell carcinoma cytology to provide a comprehensive description of the technique with practical insights for specific clinical scenarios. This review also aimed to delineate and discuss evidence gaps and potential novel applications of this technique in the context of recent advances in cytopathology, dermatosurgery, molecular targeted therapy, and precision medicine (Tab. 2, Ref. 43). Keywords: basal cell carcinoma, cytology, Papanicolaou test, May-Grunwald Giemsa.
