Our aim was to determine the effect of immunomodulatory therapy in women with chronic and recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC). ⋯ We provide current knowledge about alternative (autovaccine) treatment options for female patients with VVC and RVVC diseases and our experience with the outcomes after autovaccine administration that currently has a promising therapeutic potential (Tab. 2, Ref. 18). Diabetic nephropathy is one of the major complications of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of angiotensinogen M235T/T174M and angiotensin type 1 receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms on the development of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ The results showed no significant difference in angiotensinogen M235T/T174M and angiotensin type 1 receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms between the patient and control groups. Future studies are needed to validate the results of this study and to explore underlying mechanisms (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 35). Propranolol (PRO) has been recently discovered to possess anti-tumorigenic effects in cancer patients. So, we aimed to enlighten the in vitro effects of propranolol in A549 lung cancer cells and BEAS2B nontumoral lung cells. ⋯ We suggest that DDIT3 and CDKN1A play a critical role during cell fate decision after PRO treatment by protecting nontumoral cells against apoptosis and by triggering apoptosis in tumor cells. The selective action mechanism of PRO with less cytotoxicity in nontumoral lung cells puts it forward as a promising adjuvant agent in lung cancer therapy (Tab. 1, Fig. 4, Ref. 50). The COVID-19 pandemic has caused several negative changes. Increased alcohol consumption has been reported in some studies. This study aimed to compare the level of alcohol consumption among college students in the central and eastern regions of Slovakia. ⋯ Alcohol consumption is a significant problem in Slovakia. The number of students with a high AUDIT score from the eastern region is higher than the number of students with a high AUDIT score from the central region. More significant differences were found between men compared to women from eastern and central Slovakia (Tab. 5, Fig. 2, Ref. 34). To identify risk factors for unilateral non-acute subdural hematomas NASH recurrence, as well as to perform volumetric quantitative analysis of hematoma, postoperative pneumocephalus and extent of hematoma evacuation. ⋯ Pre- and postoperative volumetric evaluations, of patients with NASH, particularly the measurements of preoperative hematoma volume and postoperative volume of hematoma cavity and pneumocephalus have a potential to improve the prediction of clinically significant recurrence (Tab. 6, Fig. 3, Ref. 51). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: subdural hematoma, recurrence, pneumocephalus, risk factors.
