The study presents associations between prevalence of chronic diseases and selected socio-economic (SES) attributes in adult population of Slovakia and analyses the prevalence of chronic diseases in regions of Slovakia. ⋯ The study did not confirm a higher prevalence of chronic diseases in regions with weaker SES in Slovakia. Out of the 4 monitored SES attributes, 3 of them (age, education and lifestyle) had a significant impact on the prevalence of chronic diseases. Household income showed only a minimal association with the prevalence of chronic diseases, but this interdependence was not significant (Tab. 6, Ref. 41). The relevance of the stated topic of scientific research is determined by the fact that stroke is still the most important medical and social problem both in the world as a whole and in the Republic of Kazakhstan in particular due to high rates of morbidity, mortality, and disability. In addition, cerebrovascular diseases occupy one of the leading places in the structure of morbidity, disability and mortality, second only to coronary heart disease in Kazakhstan as well as around the world. The purpose of this research work is to study the features of gas exchange and brain metabolism during the revascularization of the carotid arteries. ⋯ The results obtained in this research work indicate high efficiency of carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting in finding ways to solve problems with cerebral circulation in patients suffering from carotid artery stenosis, as well as with the need for further use of these methods in clinical practice. The results obtained in the course of this scientific study, as well as the conclusions formulated on their basis, are of significant practical importance in terms of creating effective methods for treatment of patients recovering after a stroke, as well as for prevention of occurrence and development of stroke (Tab. 4, Ref. 20). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: carotid artery stenting, carotid endarterectomy, ischemic stroke, atherosclerosis, heart attack.

Breast-cancer is a common-cause of death in women.(1) We investigated the effects of before/after-NACT on hemoglobin-albumin-lymphocyte-platelet (HALP) scores and of changes therein on clinical/pathological-responses. ⋯ Higher ORR occurred post-NACT in patients with Ki-67 >20 %, while NLR, PLR, PNI, and HALP before/after-NACT and post-NACT-changes (excepting-PNI) had no-effect on ORR/pCR (Tab. 5, Ref. 21). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: breast cancer, objective response rate (ORR), pathological complete response (pCR), hemoglobin-albumin-lymphocyte-platelet (HALP) score.

It has been exactly 180 years since the pioneering work of Dr. Carlo Matteucci, professor of physics at the University of Pisa (1842), laid the basis of the method for the registration of biopotentials generated by muscles. In particular, these studies have found practical application in the principal non-invasive method of functional diagnosis of the cardiac muscle - electrocardiography (ECG). ⋯ This research demonstrated a large number of modern innovations devoted to the automation and modification of implementation of this electrophysiological method and the possible ways to implement it in matters of home and individual monitoring of patients. Furthermore, the review examines the socio-economic issues of deploying and administering tele-ECG technologies to follow up on the global principles of digitization of healthcare and on-site diagnostics by emergency medical services (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 87). Keywords: electrocardiography, tele-ECG, user bioauthentification.

The worldwide increase in the aged population raises health concerns for elderly individuals. Cognitive frailty of the elderly (apart from those suffering from Alzheimer´s disease or other type of dementia) is a complex construct associated with aging, which is composed of physical and cognitive components, while physical frailty and cognitive impairment mutually affect each other. ⋯ This review aims to define cognitive frailty, its prevalence, risk factors, and pathogenesis, while highlighting the need for further research on identification, prevention, and non-pharmacological management of cognitive frailty in older adults in view of promoting healthy aging and secondary prevention strategies for dementia (Fig. 1, Ref. 93). Keywords: cognitive frailty, older adults, risk factors, nutrition, exercise.
