The aim of our study was to evaluate impact of CYP2D6 and MDR1 polymorphisms on the analgesic efficacy of tramadol in patients after a knee arthroscopy. ⋯ CYP2D6 plays a significant role in tramadol analgesic efficacy. The non-opioid analgesia in PMs was associated with better subjective pain relief in patients after a knee arthroscopy (Tab. 3, Ref. 18).

Chronic obesity is associated with reduced levels of antioxidants, increased free oxygen radicals, and oxidative stress. Child obesity may lead to the development of complications, such as changes in metabolism, metabolic syndrome, neurological, cardiological, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrinological, and musculoskeletal conditions. The aim of the present study is to establish whether there is a correlation between basal CoQ10 plasma concentration and the ratio of lipid parameters to CoQ10 in obese children. ⋯ An increase of the ratios of lipid parameters to CoQ10 is associated with child obesity and could be used as biomarkers of early complications in the development of obesity in children (Tab. 3, Fig. 5, Ref. 22).

Case Reports
A case of scrotal swelling mimicking testicular torsion preceding Henoch-Schönlein vasculitis.
Henoch-Schönlein purpura, is one of the most common types of multisystemic vasculitis seen in childhood. The major clinical manifestations are cutaneous purpura, arthritis, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, and nephritis. Isolated central nervous system vasculitis, seizures, coma and hemorrhage, Guillan--Barré syndrome, ataxia and central and peripheral neuropathy, ocular involvement, orchitis, epididymitis or testicular torsion are medical or surgical complications. In this study, we report a 7-year-old boy with scrotal swelling mimicking testicular torsion with ultrasonographic and clinical findings that the typical clinical features of Henoch-Schönlein purpura including rashes and arthritis were developed after one week of surgery (Ref. 15).

We present a rare complex variation of the inferior vena cava and internal iliac veins demonstrated by a multidetector computed tomography. It was shown that patient had double inferior vena cava with azygos continuation of the right inferior vena cava, retroaortic left renal vein and the left and right internal iliac veins converged and drained to the right external iliac vein through a common trunk. These variations of the inferior vena cava and iliac veins are important in the retroperitoneal surgery. We present multidetector computed tomography findings of this complex variation (Fig. 3, Ref. 12). ⋯ double inferior vena cava, azygos continuation, retroaortic left renal vein, iliac vein variation, multidetector computed tomography.

Comparative Study
Comparison of the therapeutic effects of tri-iodothyronine and methylprednisolone during early sepsis in laboratory animals.
Despite major advances, the treatment of sepsis is still a challenging problem for surgeons. This study was aimed to compare the therapeutic effects of methylprednisolone and tri-iodothyronine replacement therapy during an early sepsis. ⋯ Compared to the MP replacement therapy, therapeutic effects of T3 replacement therapy have been found significantly more promising (Tab. 1, Fig. 10, Ref. 49).
