A Complex Intervention to Prevent Medication-Related Hospital Admissions—Results of the Stepped-Wedge Cluster Randomized Trial KiDSafe in Pediatrics.
Children are often treated off-label and are at a disadvantage in pharmacotherapy. The aim of this study was to implement and evaluate a quality assurance measure (PaedPharm) for pediatric pharmacotherapy whose purpose is to reduce medication-related hospitalizations among children and adolescents. ⋯ The introduction of PaedPharm was associated with a decrease in medication-related hospitalizations that did not reach statistical significance. The process evaluation revealed broad acceptance of the intervention in outpatient pediatrics and adolescent medicine.

Routine X-Rays After the Osteosynthesis of Distal Radius and Ankle Fractures-a Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial on the Necessity of Routine Imaging.
The utility of routine x-rays after the osteosynthesis of distal radius fractures and ankle fractures is questionable. We performed a trial to determine whether such x-rays are justified in patients who have undergone standardized imaging with C-arm fluoroscopy during surgery. ⋯ In this trial, routine postoperative x-rays after the osteosynthesis of distal radial fractures and ankle fractures did not improve the care of patients who had undergone standardized intraoperative imaging.

An Integrated Psychosomatic Treatment Program for People With Diabetes (psy-PAD)- Results of a Randomized Controlled Trial.
Many people with diabetes have permanently elevated blood sugar concentrations and a high level of diabetes-related psychological stress, also called "diabetes distress." In clinical practice, diabetes distress is often an impediment to successful self-management. psy-PAD is a psychodynamically oriented short-term therapy program whose goal is to reduce diabetes distress and improve glycemic control. ⋯ For people with diabetes and diabetes distress who do not achieve satisfactory glycemic control despite intensive treatment in specialized diabetological practices, integrated psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic treatment can lower blood sugar levels over the intermediate term and also reduce diabetes distress and depressive symptoms over a one-year period.

The Structured Delegation of Medical Care Services for Patients With Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases-Findings of a Randomized Controlled Trial (the StärkeR Project).
In some areas of Germany, there is a shortage of specialist physicians for patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Delegating certain medical care services to qualified, specialized rheumatological assistants (SRAs) might be an effective way to supplement the available capacity for specialized medical care. ⋯ Team-based care, with greater integration of SRAs, is just as good as standard care in important respects. Trained SRAs can effectively support rheumatologists in the care of stable patients with RA or PsA.

Spirituality, Self-Care, and Social Activity in the Primary Medical Care of Elderly Patients–Results of a Cluster-Randomized Interventional Trial (HoPES3).
Self-efficacy is decisive for the quality of life of elderly, multimorbid persons. It may be possible to strengthenpatients' self-efficacy can be strengthened by the targeted reinforcement of individual spirituality, social activity, and self-care.This hypothesis was tested with the aid of a complex intervention. ⋯ The main hypothesis concerning health-related self-efficacy was not confirmed. The results of the analysis ofsecondary parameters indicate that some subgroups of patients can benefit from the interventional approach.
